chirizo

Before I started SW I used to chop it into chunks, lightly fry the chorizo in olive oil, drain the excess oil (Chorizo has a lot) and then mix with a tin of baked beans. Not sure what the syn value would be, but it was one of my favourite meals.

I love chorizo sausage is great used in pasta and rice dishes, have steered clear of it though since being on slimming world as I assumed it would be high in syns.

What is the syn value on it?

oh thanks for the tips, im off to make it now so ill post how it goes, thanks for the syn value - i have 100g of it and looks lots, i was told it was very strong so only going to use 50g and add bacon to it yum yum
L xx

ouch that is alot of syns, 100g isnt really that much.

I suppose if you were making a meal for 4 it isnt so bad, but you wouldnt get much chorizo each lol.

Think I will stick to the spicy low fat turkey sausages. At 2 syns each.

Chorizo is 2.5 syns for 28g so not too bad really because you wouldn't need much per portion.

According to syns online, Non-branded Sausages, chorizo, 28g 2½

I use 112g in my chorizo, finely diced (I buy a sausage rather than the slices) in my paella, and it serves 4. It's the only syns in the paella (on EE), so, 2.5 syns per portion is worth it!

i had chicken and chorizo lasagne for tea yesterday and it was yummy, used 150g and it did well for 6 portions and it was really tasty :) xx

Ooh that sounds lovely - do you have a receipe for this (if you don't mind). I love paella but have never cooked it before.

That sounds really nice, please would you post the recipe? :D

I used to make Jambalaya before SW but haven't since I started the plan as I assumed the syns for chorizo would be horrendous. It's not actually that bad I guess. My hubbie will be pleased - it was one of his favourite dinners!

i didnt follow a recipe as such, i kind of just made it up...:p

the syns arent worked out exactly either but ive worked it out to be around 6/7 syns per portion and this quantity serves 6 very generously

fry off 170g of chorizo chopped up, add chopped onions, 3 cloves of garlic, tspoon of paprika and diced chicken (i used 3 breasts and 5 thigh fillets) fry off til the chicken is cooked, add some chopped tomatoes, splash of worcester sauce, a slosh of white wine, some rosemary and bit of salt and pepper then let it simmer down until the sauce gets thicker

make your white sauce, i used milk as part of my HeA, butter which i synned and flour which i synned add a bit of white pepper

make up your lasagne in layers and top with parmesan (rest of HeA) put it in the oven for about half an hour til the cheese browns and the top goes crispy :D

chorizo 15syns
wine 10syns
butter 6 syns
flour 6 syns

total 37 syns, but divided by 6 makes it just over 6 syns per portion which considering its so tasty i think is quite reasonable :D:D

you can add in mushrooms, carrot, courgette, aubergine etc to try and get some superfree in there :)

hope thats helpful guys xx
