Total Restart Diary

Hi all :) I have been on SW for just over a year now, and lost around 2 and a half stone (depending on results at weigh in tonight!!) I have been struggling over summer as I work at a lot of festivals and events, surrounded by bad food, alcohol etc and do a lot of driving across the country stopping off for convenience food. As a vegan its even harder to find SW friendly food at such events, except for the trusty jacket potato and beans (but I refuse to pay £7 for a potato and beans, thats another story though!)

Anyway, festival season finished for me last weekend. I am waiting to see what the damage is tonight for last week's fun, but the weeks ahead are clear and I've decided to do a total restart, with a fresh diary :)

In October I'm aiming to lose 7lbs, get my 3 stone award, and get into the 12's. Lots of exciting things ahead!! Am going on holiday to Asia in January so am aiming to get down to 11 stone by then :)

Anyways thanks for reading, I'll be posting up pics of my food and some recipes as well as how I'm getting on. Roll on a new start!!

Well done on the loss; the food looks great!

Thank you both :) I love cooking home cooked food, and my allotment is brimming with fresh produce at the moment!!

Another good old day today - I'm on a roll!! Great food but no exercise as I've been stuck at work all day. I really hate my job but a few Facebook messages off people and I'm feeling much better about the future - there are a few other opportunities out there that are much more in line with what I want to be doing. Eventual aim is to be self employed, and leave care/support work completely. My job makes me very stressed, today's my first full day back after 3 weeks and I feel drained and have been really jumpy and anxious. I look after people with autism and challenging behaviour and the 3 lads we support can be quite violent and spontaneous at times...I used to handle it well but it's been a tricky few months and its really got to me to the point that I can't handle it anymore. Day off tomorrow and I think I'll be on my allotment in the sun :)

breakfast - fruit and soya yogurt (2)
lunch - Thai green curry, noodles (5)
dinner - potatos, sausages, mixed veg, mustard (1), gravy (2)
snacks - cereal bars (HEXB) chocolate (2) 300ml oat milk

fresh week tomorrow, hoping for a big loss *fingers crossed*

This was my green curry for lunch. Mmmm curried butternut squash. In fact it's reminded me to make some more as my freezer stock is running low :)

shame to hear you dont like your job but i can imagine its demanding/draining..what would you rather do?
Thai green curry! yum!...do you have a recipe for that?
what do you grow on your allotment? :)....sorry i'm nosy :D
hoping for a good weight loss for you!

Hey Zafira :) Yes my job is very draining, physically and mentally, but I used to enjoy it. Now I find I am getting very stressed and worried about the violence we encounter at work, to the point I can't sleep or enjoy my day as I'm thinking 'what if'. Not a healthy way to live...Now am putting together an exit strategy, its a bit risky but I think sometimes you just need to make a change before it really, really becomes a problem. I have an immaculate sickness record and I can feel myself having to get signed off unless I do something. What I'd like to do and what is available where I live are 2 different things...there are a few options really, xmas work sorting post down the road as an immediate solution, then courier/gardening/anything!

For the curry i just used some paste with low fat coconut milk. butternut squash, broccoli and spinach. i sometimes make my own paste but my processor is down. usually just galangal/ginger, lemongrass, garlic, nam pla (fish sauce or soy sauce if veggie), sugar, onion and coriander with a bit of basil. eill post a paste recipe when i'm home with my recipe book....

allotment wise its all slowing down, digging up the last of the spuds. this year had loads of veg, and quite a bit of fruit too :)

Whens weigh in for you? x

good luck with your work plan, if it gets to that stage then it prob is time to look for something else
Feel that way with my job sometimes, not that i don't like it, more the hours/and when bad weather sets in.

yes do post up the curry recipe...love thai green although never heard of some of those ingredients/where would you get them?
Allotment sounds great:)
me & OH only tried for the 1st time last year to grow tomatoes & strawberries:)....strawbs were good the ones the insects/slugs/whatever didn't get :)
The tomatoes...well they grew...looked lush, but didnt taste it..apparently we were supposed to 'feed' them, not 'just' water them lol:D

my weigh in is tomorrow, although not holding much hope as its my 1st weigh in and although i joined group couldnt stay motivated ''with it'' SW wise until the past couple of days...
did well 5-6 yrs ago, hoping to do the same again:) eventually!

when is your weigh in day?

Another good day today. Could have very easily gone off plan this morning the way I was feeling but I just kept it under control.

Breakfast - Mugshot, apple
Lunch - stir fried rice
Dinner - spaghetti bolognaise, salad (5)
Snacks - Cereal bar (5), ryvita minis (HEXB), chocolate (4)

Total syns - 64/105

Got good meals planned for the rest of the week. Had a hour long slow walk through the forest earlier, but have been feeling really ill and fed up/stressed so spent a lot of time in bed. Fingers crossed I get to sleep soon and get to have a better day tomorrow. Goodnight all x

I hope it gets better! <3

Had a rubbish few days have been really ill with a nasty cold. Had to go to work today for a 13 hour shift and i feel a little more on top of it than I did earlier. Food has been rubbish though, been craving the wrong things and although I've not fully caved in, I haven't been on usual form. Then I got home just now at 10pm to find OH has eaten most of my soya yogurts, this is gonna sound really petty but it really peeved me off as I can't just go to a local shop and buy some. I have my food in for the week and wasn't intending to go to a supermarket again this week at all but now I'm going to have to as I'm out of yogurt :( It really annoys me as he doesn't stop eating and a lot of the time its my bloody food which I have to drive to a supermarket to buy. Now after work tomorrow i'm going to have to put diesel in my van and drive a 3 ton vehicle to buy some ****** yogurt. When he could have gone to the shop across the road and bought his own ARGH

Anyway so my reaction was to eat the rest of his indian takeaway :/ 2 bhajis and dahl with a poppadom. And now I feel like an idiot!! I'm going to have to resort back to putting my food in plastic bags with DO NOT EAT written on them. Its like he thinks I have nothing better to do on my little time off work than trawl across the city buying food, wasting diesel and clearing up after him.

*rant over*

On a good note I had a call back about some work I applied to - I will call her tomorrow hopefully once this cold has passed, I sound like darth vader at the min! Also have to call someone else about some work in London, so all guns blazing. I am getting more and more tempted to work my current job until xmas then sack it off, go self employed. Will go to asia to see my dad for most of Jan I should think, its been a few years :)

Oh boy, I hope it all works out!!! I vote go to Asia! Hahaha

Yep Asia would be lovely. I'm definitely going, for at least 2 weeks as its booked off. I have the money for my flight, too but I'm just waiting to see when the best time to go is. My OH's parents live out in the middle east and there is a possibility of going out there for xmas again this year, which would be much nicer than work which is what I've done the last 2 years!! I just don't know if I can afford it all really! Trip to middle east would be free apparently...and it would be nice to not work...but I'd definatley have to quit my job if I was going to do that as we're not allowed leave during xmas/new year. I have money for flights over to asia, and depending on how much my van costs me at the garage next Tuesday, I already have some other money saved for spending money. I could in theory go out for a while - a month, even six weeks. I would want £1000 in the bank as a backup though for when I get home, as I have bills to pay whilst I find another job. AHHHHH so tempting...but maybe a bit rash?

I'm going to call this other place and see how much work they have going - work my ass off until xmas - then maybe sack my main job off, bugger off for a bit then come back and do more bank work/look for other work. Its just such a gamble...and with care work, it can take 6 weeks or so for your CRB to even come through...then you're talking around a month until you get *some* money as its all in arrears. Can take quite a while for the money to reach your pockets. other option is to get work in London - I've been offered lots of work down there so if I knew it was available I'd happily drive down there and stay with my mum.

I think I'm going to really think about it all tomorrow while I'm at work. Write all the options down, all the risks, how much money I need, when I can next get some money...I'm a glutton for traveling and any excuse to leave this island I jump at!!

Food has not been amazing today, am still fighting this cold although I feel much, much better and will be OK tomorrow. Will get back on it tomorrow proper, but today I will be bang on 15 syns I think. x

1.5lb off tonight, hard work has paid off!! So happy with this result. To top it off I have been invited for an interview at another place of work :D Double amazing day!!

Friday was a good day - ate well, and came in at 10.5 syns to start off a fresh week.

Saturday - good start, filled up with a SW vegan cooked breakfast, then a little chocolate at lunch. Then we went to my mates leaving do, I wasn't intending on eating anything but we stayed a lot longer than expected, so I ate...the only vegan option, which was...spicy bean burger in a massive bun, onion rings and chips. Was lovely and I really enjoyed it but who knows what the syns were :/ I'm calling it 40 just in case. so now I'm trying to scrape them back :)

Today has been good, up super early to do a car boot - this went really well, made a good week's worth of money to live on so now I can relax. Had some rice (3) and a marmite roll (2 syns and HEXB), then some grapes and strawberries. Came home to a mugshot and more fruit...Dinner is going to be mash potato, gravy, lots of veg and 2 linda macartneys, am leaving 4 syns for this. cereal bar for afters. Will put me up to 73.5/105 for the week so will be a tight sqeeze not to go over my Syns before next Friday.

How far do you live from London? You very smart because you think about the future and money. Is there anyway you can get a second job like something part time 20 hours a week and have that go into savings too?

My dad always took me to have at least 6 months worth of money in my savings account for my bills so if anything happens, I have 6 months that I'm ok money wise which is hard to do, I know, but it's something that I always think about. That was a random story lol
