The eternal quest

I have tried to lose my babyweight a couple of times, but rather halfheartedly, mainly as I wasn't that bothered. But now I am, so I am hoping that means that I can achieve some weightloss success this time.

As my little changes in the past had little effect, causing me to lose motivation, I decided to take the plunge this time and go for something a little more drastic. Hopefully replacing two meals a day with shakes can help me kickstart the diet, then I will go back to healthy eating later.

I need something to keep me going though, so I thought I'd jot down my thoughts and progress here.

I have broken my weightloss goals into 5kg chunks to make it all seem a little more manageable. I know that even losing the first 5kg will open up a whole new section of my wardrobe, that in itself is incentive!

Day one today, and I have focussed on sticking to the plan, and been successful!

Two shakes a day
Two snacks a day
5-600 calorie evening meal
Increase protein intake (but not eliminate carbs)
Lots of water
Exercise
_
I would love to lose the first 5kg by mid-May, but I will try my best and take results as they come.

Weigh-in day Friday.

Day 5 and going stong! Have been sticking to the diet although I have to increase the excercise a bit more, but school holiday/rubbish weather is not the best combination for that. Today two of the kids are back in school, so I should be able to get to the gym after lunch when I have someone to look after the youngest.

I have been having one Slimfast and one Herbalife shake every day, two or three 100 cal snacks and a 600 calorie evening meal. I have been snacking on cucumber sticks and having low calorie jelly in the evening - this is the time I used to sit and snack after the kids had gone to bed, so the most difficult time to stick to the diet. I know I have to change that habit, but little steps - I am snacking less than I used to, and have not been haivng any wine.

I am a bit of a serial weigher when I diet, but in a sensible way that works for me. It motivates me to see that I have lost a little more weight, and if I haven't (like yesterday) it spurs me on to make sure that I see that loss the next day (like I did today, with a 1 lbs loss!). So in 4 days I have lost 2 lbs, which I am very happy with!

Oh, and my fat % started at 36.6% but is now 36.4%. Still too much, but going in the right direction.
