JessicaPink's Diary - MUST...fit...in..to...DRESS!!!

JessicaPink

Like to giggle
I'd like to introduce myself :p
My name is Jess, I'm 20 years old and I'm a little bit fat.

After lots of chocolate and chinese food consumption, in Feb 2009 I weighed a very unhappy, uncomfortable 12 stone 8lbs. Although I was in denial to how big I actually was, I hated myself and decided to do something about it. I started on the Cambridge Diet, and within 12 weeks I shed 36lbs and got down to a healthy 10 stone. FABULOUS I thought... :D I'm slim, look great and in a size 10 pair of jeans. Wonderful...

Actually, it turned out it wasn't so wonderful. Since reaching 10 stone in May '09 I have been on and off that diet for england and my weight has been up and down (as my mum would say) like a brides nighty. Although I've never been heavier than 11 stone 7lbs, I'm not happy that I go straight back to my old ways after losing the weight, putting it all back on again and then resorting to the same quick fix that I KNOW doesn't work longterm.
Cambridge is bloody brilliant for getting the weight off, don't get me wrong. :) Each time i'd lose 7 or 8lbs in my first week - lovely jubbly, but then I'd give up after a week or two and eat all the wrong things - never allowing myself to get to target.

Hence why I'm here! :D
(woo)

I know my weight problems are deeper than just "getting the weight off", it's all in my mess of a head ...
I need a diet that teaches me about food, losing weight and KEEPING it off. I'm sick and tired of quick fixes - messes my head up big time and it's a constant battle.

I've chosen weight watchers as I know people who have been very successful in losing weight and keeping it off - I've also been inspired by the stories on here and also on the website, so thank you for sharing.

The only hiccup is that I can't start until Friday 22nd Oct as this is when I get paid - I paid for my Cambridge products a week or so ago and still have some left so they need to be used. (I well and truly want to bury the Cambridge Diet - I just can't justify throwing them away...they cost too much :sigh: )

I've ordered my little "shop" book off of amazon so I can check points etc so I'm all set for next Friday where I will get my online shopping delivered and get started! I'll weigh in/measure then too so will let you know the damage.

Exciting. I'm finally going to say buh-bye to the flab.

Thanks for listening, looking forward to chatting to you on here!

Luv Jess xx

Hey Jess! Welcome to the WW Diaries section. I think I agree with you in terms of how WW isn't about quick fixes - I have never tried a VLCD (apart from one that I imposed upon myself aged 15, but I doubt that counts!) so I can't say I know much about how they work, but one of the thing I have always enjoyed about WW is that, in theory, I can have whatever foods I want, within reason. True, I don't go off and eat Big Mac's and a large milkshake, and the thing is the more you do WW the more you realise those kind of foods are not worth the points.

If you ever want to ask a question there are loads of us seasoned WW's that will be able to help you :) xxx

Thanks hun. No word of a lie, I'd never do a VLCD again. Don't get me wrong, like I said before - bloody brilliant for getting the weight off, but it doesn't teach you anything about food and how to eat at all. It was the greatest thing I've ever done for getting back to the 'old me' and being 10 stone, but I may as well still be 176lbs because that's where my heads at.

I'm looking forward to starting and I will probably bombard you lot with Q's so I apologise in advance! :)

That's what I thought about VLCD's - I looked at doing Cambridge or Lighterlife back in 2006 but apart from the fact I couldn't afford it, it didn't seem like my kind of thing. I wasn't obese because I ate the wrong things all the time, but I was obese because my portion control was seriously screwed, and I was just adding things like butter and cream into food. I think the best thing about WW is it teaches you the alternatives, so half fat spread or low fat soft cheese - my way of thinking has improved so much and I owe it down a lot to WW! :)

Feel free to ask anything :) xxx

welcome to ww and dont appologise for questions we all probably asked them once! good luck xx

Thanks Biker. I'll hold you to that. You'll be wanting to shut me up soon enough!

Sounds like you have your head screwed on and it's great that you know already what works for you, your mind and yor body as from experience - trying to find a solution that's right for all three is a mission and a half. I'm definitely looking to start doing a "proper" diet. For me, it's not really about the weight loss anymore, well, that's a lie actually because it is. :D But you know what I mean (she says), it's the sorting-my-damn-head-out bit.

Hurry up 22nd! Will get on Asda site soon and plan my online shopping! :)

Have a great evening xx

I wish the 22nd would hurry up so I can get started on WW. I just want to drink these pesky CD shakes up and bloody get on with it. :)

Haven't managed to do anything diet wise though for the last few days as I have suspected mumps - oh joy, so it's been lucozade and the odd slice of toast. Can't stomach much else.
Been signed off work for 2 weeks too which as great as that sounds, there's actually only so much Lorraine Kelly & Jeremy Kyle I can handle...it's a good thing I have back-to-back Inbetweeners to keep me smiling! :D Effing love that programme. I wouldn't normally say that word seeing I'm a newbie to the WW section, however that programme deserves it. :)

Had a blood test today - not nice given that my veins are little sods and never want to come out and play for the doctors - resulting in my arm looking like a pin cushion. I now have a large (very sore) lump where she eventually managed to take blood which is a bit different...big lumps are normal right?

Seeing as I have very little appetite, it should be easy to finish off these last CD shakes for a few days so I'll try again tomorrow and see if I can scrape off a few lbs before next Friday.

If anyone has any advice (as I've never done WW before - eeeek!), I would be very grateful. :)

Have a great evening all x

Luv Jess xx

First, got to laugh at being off sick and using The Inbetweeners to keep you sane as I had my first sickie in about 2 years 2 weeks ago and sat and just ploughed through all The Inbetweeners eps as had never seen them and everyone kept going on about it on FB, superb show!

VLCD have just never appealed to me. They need a complete dedication and focus but as soon as you stop them the weight comes back - and that is from reading about people like you on here. Of course there will always be exceptions but they are the minority I think.

It seems from what you are saying that WW will be absolutely perfect for you. As soon as (and I hate sounding like some sort of spokesperson, I'm not...it just clicked with me) you realise it is not a diet and just a way to work your eating in life it becomes extremely easy! Well I found so anyway.

As long as you know what your next step always is you can work around it; be that nights out, trips, meals everything. It just takes a little forward planning some times!

Hopefully that is enough advice; oh and seek out the 0 point stuff you like early on. Sugar free jellys and tomatoes (not together) are almost the most basic staple in my diet now :D

Absolutely. I love it. No matter what foul, disgusting mood I'm in - it puts the biggest smile on my face :D
Jay in particular for his cracking one-liners but also Neil, for being a complete goon :)

Totally agree with that :) It's definitely not a long-term thing.

To be honest - it's exactly what I'm looking for. I want my life back! I've spent the last...nearly 2 years dieting/struggling and never seeing a way out. I feel like a diet is what defines me now - because I'm always on & off one! I just want to be 'Jess' again. I've wasted too much time fretting - being petrified that "this is it". This isn't it - CD just isn't right for me any more.

Thanks for the advice :) Massive help. I'll be sure to have the sugar free jelly...and tomatoes - definitely not together. Very excited to get going. Not on a diet, just with life ;).

Thank you

My advice is just to be true to yourself - weigh, track and point everything - it sounds like a hardship and for the first couple of weeks it'll seem exciting. After a while you will gauge what foods you enjoy in the diet and therefore will not need to constantly check the points values, but weighing things like rice, pasta and other potentially points heavy foods really are essential!

Drink plenty of water (I'm guessing you are used to that on Cambridge?) too, I find it really helps me feel full if I'm feeling hungry inbetween meals :) xxx

Thanks hun :) I will do. I'm determined to succeed - I just want to feel like me again and drinking 3 shakes a day isn't me, regardless of how flat my tummy feels. I can't wait to get going! I'm hoping i'll be 100% recovered by next Fri so I'll have nothing standing in my way! :)

Yeah, used to drinking shed loads of the clear stuff. ;)

Thanks again xxx

Thanks Kally :D

Well the joys of being off sick meant that I was able to roll out of bed & show my face at 11am today. By show my face - I mean to my bunny rabbit which also means I'm in the p*o as I hadn't got up to feed her. She doesn't look impressed and therefore isn't speaking to me.

I can't tell you how happy I am to be here actually, massive weight lifted.
The constant battle I've had with myself and CD for nearly two years and it's finally over! I realise this probably makes me sound nuttier than squirrels p*o but as I'm sure you all know, dieting is not an easy road to go down. In all fairness i'm still bl*ody on that road but just on a more..."gentle" one ;):D

I have lots of incentives...it's my 21st birthday in May and I have to look good for that as my 18th I looked bloomin' shocking. I don't want another birthday of feeling self concious for pictures and avoiding clothes shops. I have my sister's hen do, then her wedding on a cruise around the med in July, my friend's hen do, then her wedding in September. Loads going on! And now that I've entered my 20's I can no longer get away with calling it "puppy fat".

Just over 6 months until my birthday & I'm going to shift this poxy 2-and-a-bit-stone if it's the last thing I do.

I hope you all have a wonderful & successful day :) I love reading all of your diaries! Awesome reading.

Luv Jess xx

:D Her name is Bambi although not long after getting her, it is apparent she should have been called thumper! I know it's an awful name - I just thought it was cute. :p

She is indoors - not sure what breed she is actually!! She has sticky-uppy ears...quite slim...and looks very hare-ish. ;) Here... i'll post a piccy...

She's a funny looking little thing but I love her :D She LOVES having her face stroked. She'd happily let you do that all day and to show her love for you she gives kisses!!

Maisie is a cute name! They are lovely aren't they Wabbits? :) I had never had a rabbit before Bambi and I can't work out if she's more like a cat or a dog! :D

Aww how beautiful! :D

Lovely colourings!! I ADORE that pink bed you have for her!! I also like that you have no sawdust etc...I can't do this yet as she isn't "potty" trained :(

Adorable! :D xx
