CD US
As there have been threads regarding the link between CD US and CD UK I have sought clarification from Eileen Skinner, Managing Director of Cambridge Manufacturing Limited, in order to ensure the correct information is posted.
The Cambridge Diet was launched in the US several years before the UK; this diet was never made in the UK and was a different formulation complying with the US regulations. The rights to the brand name in the US were granted at this time by the Howard family to a third party company, which they did not directly own. Another company in the US now has these rights, but has no rights to sell their product outside the US.
The UK Company was set up in 1984, and the UK formulation was then developed. The two diets are not the same, as the regulations do not allow us to sell the UK formulation in the US and vice versa. The Companies are not linked in any way and Cambridge Manufacturing have never made the US Cambridge Diet.
In the mid 90’s CD UK appointed a Distributor in the US, not to sell Cambridge Diet as sold in the UK but to sell Dr. Howard’s Success Programme (which is also different to CD US). This is a totally different product formulation to the UK formulation.
Dr. Howard’s Success Programme was originally made by Cambridge Manufacturing in the UK, to the US formulation and regulations, and exported to the US. However after time it was agreed the recipes would be released to the Distributor in the US and would operate entirely separately from the UK and the product would be made in the US.
A few months ago, it was agreed that a link to Immediate Rewards Inc who market
Dr. Howard’s Success Programme would be put on the CD Website as many enquiries were coming from the US asking for Cambridge Diet. This Company is an ‘Associate Distributor’ only; the only link between Immediate Rewards Inc and CD UK is a historical one.
The American formulation does not comply with EU or UK Regulations. The RDAs for example are completely different.
I hope the above now clarifies the confusion regarding the diets.
