Anyone in their twenties? I could do with chatting to someone in the same boat :(

Hii,
I have just turned 23 and I have also just got into the 12 stone region... not exactly sure what, around 12stone 5 I imagine since Christmas.
This is really getting me down! I am not generally unhappy at all, but I just feel OLD!
Not even old in the brain. I still go out, have lots of friends, just a few responsibilities, etc. BUT I LOOK OLD!
When I was 22 a few months ago someone guessed my age as 26. She looked bloody awful herself to be fair, but I'd made a HUGE effort that night (someone's birthday) and she ruined my night! I never get IDed anymore. I know I sound like a whiny brat haha but this is scary!
I am not sure if my body looks frumpy, or if it's because my body size means I won't wear short clothes... I think my weight must have something to do with it though.
Maybe not, actually, maybe I just have an old lady face? Maybe I can get down to a size 8 and wear short dresses and people will say I'm mutton dressed as lamb? Haaa
Anyway, I'd love to speak to anyone who's feeling the same, or just anyone who wants to "buddy up" and motivate each other.

I think a lot of it's probably the way you dress, to cover up. I'm 20 but look older, could pass for 25, which honestly I don't mind as I'm a bit of an old lady anyway! But even when I was younger I'd get told I dressed too old, and i did, because I didn't want to show skin! Certainly now I'm a leggings and T-shirt person because I don't feel comfortable in sexy clothes, when I was skinny before after losing weight, I was 9and am in my heart) a dress and heels kind of girl, even now wearing flat shoes is just uncomfortable!

Haha! Thanks. I hope it's not my wrinkles, just clothing. I even got a fringe to cover up my forehead lines!! I am so middle aged! Haha.
Do you have a goal of wearing a dress and heels for the summer or anything? I am a leggings and tshirt kind of girl too... mainly because I don't fit into any of my jeans though haha X

That's exactly why I'm a leggings girl at the moment! Nothing else is comfy and fitting! We're off on a big 2014 holiday at the end of may, so my mission is to get back into my size 10/12 dresses!

Good luck! That sounds patronising, haha. You know what I mean. That's good motivation though. I might book a holiday too. Yeahhh. I will ask my bf now :) haaa xx

Ha do it! Make it somewhere warm, unfortunately Brighton (I'm near btw, hi!) weather is appalling at the moment!

Hahahaha, yeah it is.. Are you going out for NYE tonight? I am. And I'm dreading it in this downpour. Tom said we aren't allowed a holiday until I get a job. Hahaha :( I only graduate in June so that means not for ages. He didn't care about how I need motivation. So selfish. Haa. xx

I'm not actually, mainly because I've got a stinking rotten cold, which is helpful with not going out but not helpful with the fact ALL I want to do is stuff my face with junk! Oh how could he? Did you pout? I always try pouting, doesn't always work though! Just think of Summer, I'm sure you'll be bikini body ready in no time!

I'm 25 and surprisingly get taken for around 22/23 - I know it's not by massess of years but still, it's a nice compliment! Although I often get told " you act your age, if not older yet look younger than you are" i'll take that one as a compliment i think!

I've been feeling pretty crappy about the way i look recently so think i'll be spending 2014 with a bit more "me" time to help the way I look! x

Hi there,

I always get told I look about my age or older, but feel I look sooooo much older as I'm surrounded by friends who are always been told look a lot younger. It sucks! I think that if I lost weight it would definitely effect the way I dress, as I can't fit into a lot of the clothes I'd like to, or they just don't look right on me :/ Going to spend 2014 working on myself also. Can't wait to be able to go into a shop and actually buy a dress I like without having to panic about whether they stock my size! Good luck Girls :)

Hi :)
I'm 23 and feel the same!
I used to be much heavier and bigger than I am now, and I'm 11 stone now which I know isn't huge but I'm so scared of getting back up there and I've found I don't wear any of my nice clothes or short dresses skirts and shorts I wore when I got down to 8.7 stone

I feel you im 23 and I weighed myself on New Year's Day and was horrified to see id reached the 13s - have never been that heavy in my life I seem to have jumped from 11.5 to 13.4 since September! Feel horrible about myself in clothes next to skinny friends and even more when Im naked. Restarting again when I go back to work tomorrow..... sigh

I'm 26, don't really have an issue with people saying I look older than I am though, but I'd try not to be offended if I were you

Hey everyone!
I'm 27... people don't tend to comment on my actual age, but I do get 'oh you look tired' an awful lot! :sigh:
Perhaps that's because I AM tired a lot of the time - due to having a really bad lifestyle, eating crap and not exercising. I'm in a bit of a weird situation; I've been a university student for the last 9 years, so for the most part I'm surrounded by people younger than me, so mentally I think I'm about 22! I think that's partly why I've been able to kid myself about my weight and lifestyle for so long... thinking I'm still really young and it's not a big deal. But my birthday is coming, then there's only 2 years until I hit 30. I definitely can't keep kidding myself any more!

I can certainly relate to what you're all saying about how you dress. I don't think I've ever felt comfortable enough about myself to dress 'young' or 'sexy' - I always go for quite conservative, comfortable clothes that hide my body. It'd be great to reach a point where I felt I could wear what I wanted.

Sometimes it feels it, but losing weight isn't impossible, right? We can ALL do this.

Hi all! I'm 25 and although I apparently look quite young (hell, I got ID'd for sex and the city not too long ago ... The checkout person thought I may have been 14 ... Or younger!) and am pretty immature, I, for some reason, keep freaking out about getting older! I'm having a quarter life crisis I think. I think it's due to the fact I haven't been able to truly enjoy my youth years cos I've always had that underlying self-consciousness holding me back. Looking forward to changing that before the walking stick and brooches arrive!

ps I am also very much a leggings and jumper kinda gal.

I'm 26 and don't get id'ed anymore. Bit depressing really, means I must look my age.

I feel older as I'm frumpy but am looking to lose weight and get back to my glamourous self this year :)

Hiya! Im 20 too! Well 21 this month haha!
I feel the same, i feel frumpy in my clothes due to my weight and find myself choosing clothes that are 'modest' so as not to show bulges and bits of chubb. At one point(at my thinnest) it felt great to be able to wear short skirts and feel good in them so yes i think the weight does make a big difference. Although people guess i am younger due to the chubby baby face!

Hi!

I'm going to be 22 in July and I weighed in on Monday at 12st 12lbs (my heaviest!). I weigh in on a monday! I'd love to have a motivator :)
