Don't know if this helps, but I have just been diagnosed as prediabetic and prescribed Metformin. As this is my first week I will not pretend to be an expert, but this is what I know at this point:
- with Metformin you start at a low dose (I am on 500mg per day) and go up gradually. From what I've read, best weight loss results come when you are on around 1500mg.
- people have far fewer problems with the extended release tabs than the normal ones.
- following a low-carb/low gi/ high protein diet reduces sickness and diarrhoea.
- it's important for weightloss to do some exercise every day; just 30 mins brisk walking or similar.
- and personally, having been someone who really struggles to lose weight on any diet, I have lost 1.2kg in 3 days and I am delighted!
