Hello, firstly thanks so much for taking the time to read this.
I'm 22 years old and was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 17, after having symptoms and being fobbed off since I was 15.
I take Provera to make me have periods, as I dont have them, or haven't in a while, without medication.
My thyroid levels have always been a bit dodgy since being diagnosed (I don't know if this is common?), they were almost under active for a good while then over active etc etc. I was told I have Thyroiditis last year, and they said they would monitor it 6monthly, when I have my check up with the consultant.
Yesterday I got a phone call from my consultant saying my thyroid levels are bad?! And that he was arranging a scan (radio active stuff injected) ASAP. I've had one of these scans already, before I was told I had Thyroiditis.
I don't know much about PCOS other than the basics as I don't want to google and then scare myself into various things that work for other people (I get a bit obsessed with googling symptoms!). I've lost just over a stone in the last 2/3 month without really trying - by not trying I mean takeaways and cake, and lots of them - so I'm guessing my thyroid is over active currently.
I was just wondering if anyone else had the same problems and if so what was the next step? Me and my partner are wanting to start ttc next year, but I've read (on Google!) that an over active thyroid can cause infertility, and I definintely don't need any more issues down there!
Thanks in advance
Natasha
