5:2 Diet

Hi All!

I am new on here and was wondering if anyone is doing the 5:2 diet?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am due to start tomorrow.

I started the 5:2 diet last Thursday Monday and Wednesday are my fast days hoping for a steady slow loss. Good luck xxx
 
Hi ladies, I started the Fast Diet, Dr Michael Mosley's version yesterday. My fast days are Monday and Thursday. Only found it tough when I was bored, even managed to do 30 Day Shred, but I always exercise on an empty stomach anyway. Lets keep each other motivated?!

Wow that's great I havnt even thought about exercise yet loll, yesss let's keep each other motivated. Didn't stick to my fast today so will fast on Friday and will weigh in on Saturday will keep u guys posted on how it goes.. Good luck x
 
On my second day of fasting. It's been tough today!! I think I am going to start waiting till lunch to eat then dinner at 6pm.....just an hour to go and I can't wait!!!!
 
Hi there it's my first week on the plan my fasting days are Mondays and Thursday and am also trying to do the 30 day shred (although not everyday with that at the mo) had a major eat-a-thon on Tuesday but apart from that not too bad so don't think i can give any advice just yet but it's lovely to know other people are starting it so i can follow someone elses progress.

Managed to do 1.5 days of fast this week and didn't eat well last night also was suppose to weigh in yesterday but couldnt get round to it so thought i weigh in today and am glad to say iv lost 3 lbs!!!!!!! Really happy with this as this is the fist time in 10 years not being on a branded diet and used my own head to control my food and eat what I want am really surprised with myself..

Hi everyone! I'm on my 2nd fast day of week 3 on 5:2. Loving it so far! I can honestly say I'm almost always no longer hungry, whether it's a fast day or not. The first week was a little tricky (though nowhere near as hard as I thought) but since then I've been fine! My usual fast days are mon and thurs but had to change this week to sat as ive ha to socialise a bit this week! I lost almost 5lb the first week but didn't lose last week (* week). Will weigh in for week 3 tomorrow!
I eat usually at 3:30 on my fast days and then at 6:30. This way I have a long fast from the evening before and another until the next morning. Contemplating a full fast one day, on advice from a fellow 5:2er but may leave that for a few weeks!

Hi, following on from your comment about a full fast Sofartogo, let us know how you get on....on thurs I actually felt worse when I ate at lunch time and a lot hungrier in the evening. Maybe a full fast is the way to go?

That's why I leave it until 3:30. Hungry again by 6 so eat again and don't seem to mind the wait until the next morning! Strange!! X
 
Anyone know how many calories we should aim for on non fasting days? I don't want to binge and blow it so I want to track my calories for the first couple of weeks.

I aim for between 1800 and 2000 a day. 2000 gives a deficit of just over 3000 cals a week. 3500 is better but fine if you're just below 2000 a day. Does that make sense?? X

Thanks Sofartogo. I found a site that calcualtes your BMR (basal metabolic rate - ie what you need to maintain if you were just laying in bed all day) and TDEE (total daily energy expenditure). My BMR is 1352.25 and TDEE is 1622.7 (I'm only 5ft2, and sedentary). 25% of 1600 is 400 so that's what I need to eat on a fasting day,. I'm still puzzled about how uch I should be eating on a non fasting day though.Any ideas?

If you are following the bmr route then your cal intake on other days would be 1600 I would assume but I think that as you are fasting, then you could still do the 2000/500 thing?? Will have a reread through my book today and get back to you! X
