A couple of questions...

I'm going to be starting in a couple of weeks but have a few questions, hoping some of you might be able to answer them!

What are the shakes like if you make them up in a shaker or something and not a blender? Tried a different diet before and they were really lumpy and horrible!

Can you have milk? I know some allow you a small allowance. I wouldn't have much, just a splash in the odd cup of tea or coffee.

Has anyone ignored the no citric acid rule and had drinks with it in? I seem to remember that I did when I last did a VLCD and was absolutely fine, wondering about doing it again as I can't stand plain water!

The shakes are fine in a shaker - best to have a shaker with a metal ball in it.

There's a 50ml skimmed milk allowance per day.

Citic acid knocks some people out of ketosis but not everyone. It's up to you whether you want tp stick to it or not. Personally I took the opportunity to wean myself off all of the nasty chemical stuff!

Mine doesn't have a ball in it, I might try and find one that does, thanks.

It's in the squash I drink annoyingly, can't find any other alternative that I like that doesn't have it in! I might give it a try, see how I do with it and I'll cut it out if I need to.

The shakes mix well in a shaker, no lumps like on other plans! I use the shaker with a metal ball, got it in Argos, £1.99 I think.

You'll get a sheet when you order that tells you about milk, veg and protein allowance but they're all allowed!

Personally, I haven't had citric acid so can't help there.

Hope that helps!

I couldnt get along with the ball shaker I just have the mesh one & that works fine with the shakes, they mix very easily... previously when I did CD i HAD to use a blender everytime (even installed one at work) S&S is much simpler (and tastier)

I use a little battery operated coffee frother to mix mine in the glass/ mug; no lumps

Hi Caroline

I remember you from cd :) I have had a few of the slim and save products and have to say they are really nice, no probs mixing them I was using a shaker from boots and they do taste nice...so much so I wonder how they can be a vlcd shake hehe, bars are lovely too especially the lemon one, not to keen on the meals as I made it wrong D'oh but it's still worth a go on the sample pack, think I'll be back on it soon as my Cdc has gone AWOL :(

Good luck for when you start xx

Hi Caroline, I drank all diet/ no added sugar drinks from about week 3, and was fine. I guess it's a personal preference, an adjustment that I took to make things easier. I tried it first and carried on when there was difference in my losses and how I felt.
There is some squash with no citric acid- I think it's a ribena one, something with added health vitamins... Can't for the life of me remember the name sorry! I think it might be peach flavour possibly but it's worth looking in the supermarket.

Yeah it is their added vitamin ribena but I don't like it! Think I'll probably drink them and if there's an obvious effect, I'll stop.

I remember you too dappy! Reckon S&S is nicer than CD? What's happened to your CDC?

I like more shakes on S&S than I do on cd, had the vanilla, chocolate crispy, strawberry, Banana and caramel and they were all nice. The only reason I stick to cd is I wanna try to be a cdc in future as will help my finances when i return to working with horses. (my cdc is back just takes ages to respond to my emails and texts lol)
