Advise for weekend away please

Currently on wk 1 and loving the plan. I'm worried as I have a weekend away booked at the end of April with my sister......my family don't know I'm doing a vlcd yet ( apart from hubbie who also doing it).
I'm considering coming out of Ketosis, then getting straight back on track when I get home. It's 2 days away, I don't want to undo what I've achieved but just not sure how to stay on plan 100%.
If it was hubbie and I it wouldn't be an issue as we'd both have the same agenda. I know my sister wants to go to restaurants, bars, cafes etc. I can make really wise choices and veer away from carbs but honestly don't think I can stay in Ketosis.
Could really use some advice from those who have been in a similar position please xx

You could come out of ketosis but I would just send a word of caution that some people who go off plan find it very difficult, and in many cases impossible to get back on track. This is not written to be the prophet of domb, but to help you understand how difficult it can be for some. Personally I have taken breaks and found it ok to get back on track but having been on here for a few months I know how hard some people find it.

I think only you can decide how to handle it. Couldn't you say that you're low carbing and stick to protein and veg / salad?

I think the food may be easier for me to get around - I can pick protein & salad/veg.
My worry is that as we will be eating out breakfast ( hotel ) lunch & dinner - I can't let my sister sit oppostie me not eating as protein is only allowed once per day. Do I have less packs and more protein/veg just for those 2 days?

The bigger hurdle I really need to think about is drinking. We'd planned a real girly, let our hair down weekend. Now I'm more than happy to have water but I know she will feel awkward drinking and don't want to spoil her weekend too.
Hopefully in 3 weeks time I will have a better idea myself about how I will tackle it.

If I do decide to come off for the 2 days I absolutely know I will get back on track no matter how hard it is - hubbie will see to it also.
I have a huge amount of will power ( which frustrates my hubbie lol )
I did SureSlim 4 years ago losing nearly 5 stone in 6 months. I did have a couple of periods where I came off plan due to holidays etc so I know I can get back on.

Plus I have my holiday in June to Florida which I want to look and feel so much better for so lots to aim for :D

Would just like to know if I reduce packs and up carbs if staying in Ketosis?

Thank you
x

This is something I have been thinking about to, I'm about to place my first order and fully intend to do the 12 weeks on plan but I have 5 days away in London in June and I just don't know how easy it will be to stay on track, so whilst I have no advice, I will be checking this thread for myself so thanks for asking the question.

Good luck :)

Well if you were asking me what I'd do personally I'd take a break for a couple of days and then get straight back to it once I was home. I'm of the opinion that I'm in this diet for the long haul and planned breaks make it tolerable for me. However my decision is based around the fact that I know that I can get back on track straight after as I've mananged it after every planned break before, and I know that the corresponding 'out of ketosis' weight gain means that I was likely to gain half a stone during that weekend off, but that I would lose it within the first week back on plan as I've done before. I also accept that having a break puts me back 2 weeks, so a week where I am off plan and gaining weight, and another week where I'm losing it again. I took a break for a holiday after 6 weeks on the diet. I gained 6lbs and lost it all again in 5 days after restarting. Equally however there have been many many people on this forum who took a break for a holiday intending to start back straightaway and were never seen again, or who caved when they tried to restart.

So what I'm saying is that it depends on your mindset, and if you can accept all of the above and have the mental strength and determination to get back on track then take a complete break. If you can't then maybe considering following a low carb plan for the weekend and have protein based breakfasts so poached eggs and mushrooms maybe, salads for lunch and protein and low carb veggies for dinner. I've never tried this on a break personally though.

Thank you so much, has really helped me and your advise is extremely wise and makes total sense.
Its all about choice and I don't doubt in 3 weeks time my decision will be much clearer :D
Again thank you so much xx
