Approaching 40 and don't want to be fat

Hi to all the wise ones on this site,
I turn 40 26 nov this year and currently feel about 20 years older. I seem to permanently waddle everywhere and look for excuses not to go out as feel like an embarrassment to my trim hubby.
about 2 years ago I lost 5 stone, and became convinced I could control my eating and more importantly my drinking, alas no so here I am
i started on Monday and have stuck to it 100% but do struggle on weekends. This forum is a godsend for me if I'm wavering I pop on read the posts feel I'm not alone in the quest for a healthier me.
do you think it's possible to reach 64kg by November or am I being a little too optimistic

Hi - I think we are in a similar position! What you definitely can be is significantly slimmer by your 40th and well on your way to reaching your ideal weight, ready to really enjoy and make the most of your forties. I have decided that my forties are going to be my best decade yet!

I can't see your stats as I'm on the iPad app so I can't tell how much you've got to lose. However, if you stick to it 100% then you should lose an average of 1 stone a month. Whilst I was still large on my 40th birthday I am now the grand old age of 43 and slim for the first time in my adult life and really enjoying my exercise. Good luck on your journey!

Thanks firstly for reading and more importantly for you words of encouragement.
zeke, what made you start your journey and when are you hitting the 40's
weasey your stats are amazing! What an inspiration , how did you keep going and how long did it take
i am back at the gym and starting with gentle interval training, weigh in tomorrow fingers crossed

It took me around 10 months - because I increased the calories for the last 4 or 5. After about 6 weeks it just became the way that I ate - at that point I knew I would do it. Now I just need to keep it off!

I will be hitting the forties at the start of May, so I do have 8+ months to go yet.

What actually got me started was being on holiday recently, we stayed in a very trendy 5* hotel - the place was amazing (and full of slim people). I didn't enjoy it as much as I should have done. I didn't put my costume on and I didn't get in the sea/pool with my son (which he would have loved). I have been there many times before though! The real trigger was the fact that I realised that whilst there I wasn't overeating at all (yes, I was overdrinking but I had got out of the grazing habit) and knew that this was the perfect time to start. I also realised going the meal replacement route was perfect for me as it is the organisation and shopping that I struggle with the most of a diet (to start with). I am 100% fed-up with not living my life to the full and as a result making it quite drudgy. My thirties have mainly been spent as a size 16-18 with a couple of brief spells at a size 14. My twenties were mainly spent as a size 14, occasionally as size 12 and one brief spell at a size 10-12. I felt amazing at a size 10-12! I absolutely loved it! It is definitely time to get there again and stay there and really, really enjoy these childhood years with my son. I want to be an active mum - one who goes kayaking/hillwalking/sailing/windsurfing/bike riding with him!

So I haven't started S&S yet (as going away mon-fri this week) but I am definitely eating in a way that will make it much easier for me to start when I do (on saturday). I feel better mentally now about my weight than I did a few months ago, when I was 10 lbs lighter, as I am on the journey that I so desperately wanted to be on but somehow couldn't find the start.

Zeke,
you will be a size 10 / 12, drinking is my biggest downful. It's about time I admitted just how many calories I waste with alcohol. Nearly every night I would consume a bottle of read wine without even giving it a second thought, if we went to the pub with our friends I would drink pints of lager and keep up comfortably with the men, in fact my hubby would always stop way before me and he's 6ft 4 so at least whilst doing the diet no alcohol.
a friend and I from work have set a challenge to each other to lose 2 stone by November, but secretly I want to smash this target with 4.
Maybe we can try and keep each other on track I think our sizes over the decades have been quite similar so here's to the 40's and getting into skinny jeans and not stretchy track suites

Hi Zeke,

Hope all is going good with you, I can see you are away this week have a fantastic time. I think we are indeed very similar... just reading the decades for you mirrors mine almost exactly.
We will be a size 10 - 12 very soon.

Anyway just a brief update

Week 1 - 11lbs down

onwards and downwards
