The slow way is to build muscle mass, as muscle requires more energy to maintain than other body mass types (such as fat), so building more muscle will raise your BMR. But this takes time![]()
The 'experts' will tell you the only real thing to boost your metabolism is exercise, especially interval training.
Other tips are to eat breakfast to kickstart it, eat little & often, add spices to your foods,
As for the exercise, it is proven that muscle burns more calories than fat, so the less fat/more muscle you have will enable you to naturally burn more cals? It mightn't be the 'fast' way of boosting your metabolism, but in the long run wouldn't it be worth it?
For me personally eating small & often stops me starving/binging (not badly, but still...!), and I find if I have a good breakfast I often don't need to snack mid-morning as I have the energy to carry me through the morning.
This is interesting.. I was always under the belief that having food in your belly first thing kick started things, your metabolism etc?
Probably the most effective way of increasing the metabolism is by overeating (eating above maintenance calories) and chosing higher carb/low fat. Preferably for a few days. This will help restore all the various hormones that are responsible for metabolism.
Scary though.
You can also increase it by gradually eating more, but it takes longer
