Eczema sufferer here and have had it since I was born (now 35). It isn't anywhere near as bad as when I was younger. When I was 10 I was hospitalised as it practically covered my whole body. I tend to get flare up's not with a change in the weather or when I'm run down - usually on my neck and hands.
Used to get it a lot when I was baby and was often hospitalised. they would tye my hands to the side of the cot to stop me scratching!!
Then when I was 6/7 I remember whenever we went to the seaside my mum would have to take bottles of tap water to rinse me down as the sand and salt water would start it off again.
Haven't had it for years until the last 2/3 years and my arms in particular have very bad spots that itch like MAD! Just got some streriod cream from the docs which seem to be helping. Didn't think it was eczema at first as it is totally different than when I was young.
lol yeah i remember wanting to scratch all the time, i have a cream called aquarius or sumthing like that... im also using oilatum atm but nothings seems to be helping
I remember having all that tar stuff put on me as well! Yuk!
The Aqueus cream I use instead of soap and also as a skin moisturiser. You really do need to see your doctor. They have seen everything believe me! There is no need to feel embarassed. Do get some professional help though. If he/she can't find something to help you then you should be sent to see a specialist at the hospital.
ok turns out i have some sort of infection, the doctor has given me cream and said ive gotta use for about 5 days i think but then gotta carry on for at least 10 days for it to clear up completely. God knows how i got the infection, he said its not got anything to do with my ezcema so now i know why my creams weren't working lol
At least you've got to the bottom of it and can treat it properly.
I used to have bad when I was a child, very much like everyone else's stories on here. It has fot eh most past cleared up but I do get outbreaks every now and again.
I got one a few months ago and just used the steroid cream my doctor last gave me but it just got worse, I kept putting it off but it was getting so bad I was almost at the point where I didn't want to go into work. After a few false starts my doctor finally managed to get to the bottom of that, it was a fungal infection, it's all cleared up and so glad I finally went to the doctor!
I feel for you Kat112409, mine wasn't painful but was across my forhead and all the way round my neck, so not anywhere I could cover up!
It takes a couple of days but if you put the cream on at least a couple times a day after washing then you should start to see an improvement and feel better!
Do you have eczema anywhere else?
How's it going Kat112409, has your skin cleared up any?
