Well my 3rd week of slimming world and have lost 4.5lb in total, but I gained 2.5lb tonight and am basically back where I started on my latest challenge to shift the last of this weight.

This is my 2nd go on slimming world and have so far lost 7.5 stone, even still I'm gutted. I followed my plan 100% and I think I'm more worried because I have my Christmas dinner on Saturday and I know there will be a lot of drink so I could end up with 2 bad weeks.

I have now decided to keep a diary this week to see if it helps...here goes...

Today - Monday - Weigh In Day

Lunch: mugshot
Dinner: SW chips with quorn chilli

2 litres of water

Day 2

Lunch: mug shot
Afternoon: 2 HEXB hifi bars
Dinner: SW sauté potatoes with chilli con carne using half packet of Colmans (2.5 syns)

Snack: mandarin oranges

Trying my best to drink 2 litres of water ... One down one to go

Day 3

Lunch: mug shot
Afternoon: had another mug shot i was so hungry today
Dinner: SW chips with onions, mushroom and trying syn free gravy...I hope it's nice

Snacks: mandarin oranges

So far so good

Hi Samantha.

I'm not surprised you were hungry - you're barely eating anything!

Which SW plan are you following, or are you mixing them up? What about your Healthy Extras and what are you using your Syns on?

Have a look through other diaries to get some ideas and, if possible, try to have some breakfast.

Hi Patty,

I usually have 2 hifi bars but didn't today. My dinner portions would be quite big though and I would always consider myself to have quite a large appetite.

I follow the green plan, I'm a veggie :) I try to eat none or as little syns as possible through the week, maybe that's where I'm going wrong

Hi again.

I understand about saving your Syns and that has clearly worked for you thus far. Perhaps now you are approaching target you need to use a few more on a daily basis and not all at once over a couple of days - it would be worth trying.

I don't see your HExAs - you can have two as you're following the green plan. These give you calcium and there is evidence that calcium aids weightloss. Are the Hi-Fi bars the 'full fat' ones? If you're having the Light ones then two of those make one HExB and you can two B choices a day.

If possible, try to mix your HExs up - measured bread, cereal, crispbreads etc and on green, nuts and seeds or more cheese can be a B choice.

As I suggested yesterday, hunt out one or two diaries - there are plenty of people doing green days which might help and inspire you.

Day 4

Lunch: mug shot
Afternoon: 2 hifi bars
Dinner: homemade veg soup
Snack: fresh fruit salad

2 days until my Xmas dinner with the girls :)

Hi Patty,

Thanks, I use the light hifi bars do I'm allowed 4 per day? I don't use any HEX A's at all, I don't like milk or cheese or anything like that :-(

I have been looking online for inspiration, def need to keep changing my diet. Have you ever tried scan bran? I seen it in class but I'm a little unsure about it

In theory yes, you could have 4, but I really would urge you to have something different such as bread or nuts or olives. It would make for a healthier diet and would also be better for your pocket!

You could have a different type of milk such as Alpro's almond or hazlenut 'milk' drink or Oatly chocolate for your HExA and have it with a HExB of cereal for a quick breakfast. I love porridge made using the hazlenut milk.

Do you go to a group and do you have the books? If so, read it through and have a think about trying a bit more variety in your food even if it's just one different thing each week.

Keep posting your diary as I'm sure someone else will come along and give you some advice.

Silly me, of course you go to group - you wouldn't have the Hi-Fi bars if you didn't!

I didn't answer your question about Scanbran. It seems to be a marmite product - you either like it or you don't. Many people make a cake with it, as I do sometimes, and there is a whole thread about that in, I think, the Teams and Challenges forum. It involves yogurt and eggs, so may not suit you depending on how strict a veggie you are. There are plenty of other crispbreads you can eat - lots of different Ryvitas for example, and they have a much more satisfying 'crunch' factor! Just check the number of each type you can have.

I forgot that some dried fruits and cooked fruits are also a B choice - do have a look at your book as I'm sure there are things other than Hi-Fi bars to suit your taste. In my opinion, the bars are best suited as a substitute for a chocolate bar rather than a meal and the lights are only 3Syns so you could have a 'proper' meal and have a bar later on. However, each individual has to find a way that suits them but bear in mind that when you get to target, you will have to continue eating pretty much as you do now to maintain your new weight. Will you continue going regularly to group when you get to target in order that you can get the bars or would you start grabbing other convenient things which may not be as good for you?

I hope those thoughts help. Good luck.
