ProPoints First time weight watcher - Food diary

Hi

A bit about me-

I used to be a complete gym bunny and a very toned size 10, when I changed jobs I found I struggled to make time for the gym and eventually stopped going but still exercised in other ways at home so stayed a less toned size 10. I got married in 2010 and on the first day of honeymoon completely tore the ligament in my left knee. At the end of 2010 I had this operated on and slowly began to gain weight as I was doing no activity whatsoever.

By 2012 I was a size 14 and not very happy about it but was struggling to shift the lbs. In May I found out I was expecting our first child and our amazing son was born in January of this year. He is 10 weeks old today :). Unfortunately I was one of those silly people who decide that pregnancy is the perfect time to stuff yourself silly so now I am sitting at 13st 12lbs and a very wobbly size 16 :(

I have just joined Weight Watchers online who say I can have 45 pro points a day and 49 weeklies which seems a huge amount but I am breast feeding so we'll see how it goes. I've decided to start a food diary to keep me motivated. I have never done a slimming plan before so I'm excited to see the results.

Well my first day dieting isn't officially until today as I only got on line yesterday afternoon to plan my meals but I decided that I would diary all my food from yesterday and take any excess from my weeklies to ensure the best loss possible this week. I have a hen do on the 20th so I would love to be a few lbs lighter. I'm actually shocked at how much I ate - its so easy to kid yourself that you're not really eating that much... so here goes;

Hi, Thank you. Good luck to you too. They do seem to have given me a lot of extra points because I'm breast feeding - I better stick at it or they'll take them off me lol. I will be weighing in on a Tuesday so we should be on the same day too we'll have to compare notes :)
 
Well yesterday I went shopping and got some alpen coconut and chocolate bars as a treat as they are only 3pp each and absolubtly delicious and last night I ate 2 along with the 2 Alpen Light bars I had at breakfast so I went way over my daily points - very annoyed at myself! I also need to cut down on cups of tea and coffee. I'll give it a try today eek..

Well I was naughty again yesterday had wine and chocolate eek!! It was so good though - thank god for weeklies which means I'm still on plan. I am going to have to buy in some fruit so I don't keep snacking on the alpen bars lol. My dad is coming to lunch today and was going to buy a rotisserie chicken thinking it would be the healthy option - 13pp in a quarter!! I bought some sweet chilli and lime breasts instead only 5pp each. I can't believe I always thought rotisserie chickens were healthy.

Nice to read your food diary kfairhurst. I'm sure it will all go well.

Do you have a goal (like a weight you'd like to be, amount of weight you'd like to lose, number of inches off certain areas) or just want to lose weight, see how it goes and maybe get back down to the size 10 you were?!
No need to answer, just curious. I enjoy hearing other people's goals, and you already have your starting stats up there. If you had your goal(s) up too, I'm sure the members here are all willing to support you, and will enjoy celebrating your losses with you, and giving you the motivation to keep going when things don't quite go to plan.

I started WW propoints recently too and first week lost 1lb but that was Easter week so really focused last week and stuck to propoints and weighed everything and lost 5lbs. Delighted with myself. 45 daily does seem very high even though you are breastfeeding. My sister is too and she is on 39. I think it's 10 propoints over what you normally get if you're breastfeeding. Love reading all the food diaries. Good luck with it all and keep us posted.

Yes my goal weight is 10st which is what I weighed at my wedding in 2010 I'll try and figure out how to add it to my profile. I was 9st before that so I would eventually like to be back there but that may be a pipe dream.

Wow Deepsurf 5lbs in a week is amazing. Is that using your weeklies too? I think 45 is high but I'm going to see how it goes I'm still starving all the time! - I could honestly eat constantly! Hopefully if I can stick to what they've given me I'll see a loss. Can't wait to weigh in now. :)
 
Well done Deepsurf. I'd love to lose 5lbs soon (well 6lbs and make it to a nice round 12stone, meaning just an extra 2 stone to my goal).

My aim is to get to 10 stone, to get to a normal BMI weight and then anything after that is bonus, so I think that's how you should start kfairhurst - go with your 10, see how you get on, and then maybe alter the goal to 9stone.

As for the high points, I read on another thread, someone was struggling to eat all their daily allowance and someone recommended eating fuller fat items - full fat yoghurt instead of low fat or fat free, full fat butter instead of cal sprays etc, so maybe you could try that to use them.
Also, if you're hungry, try some more filling foods, there's a couple of threads where people are using simply filling on ww. They don't count their pp, but I'm sure they could give you some tips on filling foods with higher pp so you're not getting hungry as often (and end up snacking on high pp junk to use the points), but still using all the points.
 
I don't seem to have a problem using the points lol. I'm pretty happy with my allowance if I can lose weight on it. Guess I'll find out on Tuesday. I hope you get your 6lb that would be amazing :)
 
Well I managed to only go one point into my weeklies yesterday. Lunch with my Dad was amazing. I totally recommend those chicken breasts. I really wanted chocolate last night while I watched a film so I didn't have pasta with my bolognaise sauce at dinner. Not the healthiest swap I know but I got to enjoy my chocolate guilt free :)

And thanks, it would be nice. It's so hard avoiding weighing myself. Really hope I've lost something this week, as I feel I've done well with my eating so far and have kicked butt down the gym (in my opinion haha)
 
Well yesterday we went to our friends for their sons 4th birthday party. There were loads of pizzas and I ate one slice before I even remembered I was supposed to be dieting. Just shows how much you eat without even thinking about it. We were there for 3 hours so I ended up having a second slice just before we left as I was starving - luckily they were tesco pizzas cut into 10 slices so each slice was tiny and it only worked out at 5pp.
Also when we first got there they had no diet drinks so I was offered a britvic J20 which was only 88 calories but when I came home to point it it was 4 points!! I wish I'd stuck to water. It turns out I have used all my weeklies now so have to stay under my dailys today.

I'm so proud of myself. I've been out shopping and on my way back I had to pass McDonalds.I was starving and was so tempted but I came straight home and had some Ryvita with Philidelphia and an apple. It was really nice and I'm so relieved I didn't break!! I might plan one into next weeks meals to reward myself :)

I know how hard it is not eating takeaway.
My fave ever is KFC, and since starting WW on wednesday, I've been around people eating KFC twice.
Once on Wednesday, when my friend popped into the drive thru, and then again on Thursday when my bf wanted KFC and asked me drive him there. And I sat there watching him eat it, extremely jealous. He left his chips as well, and it was hard not pinching one off his plate. But I resisted.
