I know you can buy the fiber additives but I was wondering if you could take fybogel?

I don't want to mess things up so advice greatly appreciated!

Thanks

My mum was given some before a colonoscopy and when I read the packet I saw they contain citric acid. So I know that the flavoured fybogel, well, orange contain citric acid but I am not sure if the plain does... so would be best to check just incase.

Some people say citric acid doesn't effect them. Me personally I avoid it totally lol

Fybogel shouldn't knock you out of ketosis. I use it as I'd rather risk the ketosis than be bunged up!!

If anyone is worried about citric acid (like I am ;)) there are plenty of alternatives that don't contain it to help you 'go' while on this diet. If you aren't bothered by the citric acid then go for the fybogel.

I struggle to go too so have to take something at least once a week to help me get some movement.

Can you let me know which ones? I've had 'problems' on CD in the past that I really don't want to repeat!

Thanks!

S&S sell their own fibre supplement or some people add a tablespoon of wheat bran to their porridge / meals, or try psyllium husks in the shakes (cold). I tried most things but I ended up using Scan Bran crispbreads (they sell them in Holland and Barratt and with only 3g of net carbs I'm ok with that). They work for me :).

Thanks for that, I bought some psyllium tablets this morning so will see if they help!

I first tried Senokot max strength but they did not work for me at all. The next ones I tried are the Dulcolax Pico Perles, they work and definitely help me go... although the only downside is they cause me bad cramps which are quite unpleasant so I am going to try something else soon.

I would suggest to try what Bordersgirl mentioned in her post first as if these work for you should be much more gentle. I am yet to try any of these but will do and really hope they work for me... although I have a feeling they wont as I have suffered with constipation ever since a kid and not much could ever help me go to the toilet, although the Dulcolax certainly do :eek:

the orange fibogel is a no no but the plain one is ok , although I wouldnt use as as its a bulking agent and on S&S you dont have much to 'bulk ' if you get what I mean . I have found movicol is the best thing for me , 2 sachets every other day keeps me going , its very effective and very gentle and wont make your bowel 'lazy ' like some laxatives do . i also use dulco pico perles if I am actually binged up , I find them effective and i dont get cramps with them x

Thanks for all the advice guys, I've 'been' and have also been taking the psyllium tablets and all seems ok so far!
