has Atkins stopped working for anybody?

Hi all, I did Atkins very successfully about 7 years ago and lost a lot of weight but about a stone before I'd reached my goal, the weight loss stopped even although I wasn't doing anything different and I wasn't exactly thin. After that I tried it on and off for years with no success.

It's been a while now since I gave it a go and I'm thinking about starting again. Has anyone had similar experiences and if so what have you done about it?

I'd love to hear from you

Hi Broxi,

I started Atkins about nine years ago(can't believe it was so long ago) and I only started it as I loved all the things on Atkins that I was allowed to eat. I have always disliked fruit and veg. but absolutely love meat, fish, poultry and dairy. I could absolutly live on cream and full fat milk and my idea of a cheese sandwich was two slices of cheese spread wit butter (the real stuff) and sandwiched together. Anyway I did not expect to lose weight and nobody was more surprised than me when the pounds just melted away.

The biggest surprise however was the fact that all my ailments that I had suffered for years seemed to disappear overnight almost. Migraines, insommnia, mouth ulcers, lack of energy and most of all I had had a frozen shoulder for two and a half years which was suddenly cured. Hallelujia.

Anyway sorry about my ramble and in answer to your question, it did sort of stop working because instead of listening to what my body was telling me, ie "This diet is just what you need.", I started listening to all the do gooders that insisted I was eating myself into an early grave by eating all the "wrong" foods etc.

I should have stuck to my guns and said "wrong for who?" but I guess they wore me down over time and I ended up very much over my comfort zone weight wise.

I have now done two and a half months on Lipotrim (hard work but worth it) and am now considering Atkins again.

I am also considering the Juddd diet but with an Atkins element to it to see if that will work. I am getting quite excited about and without sounding too airy fairy about it I think my body is in complete agreement about it too.

Wow, I seem to have written an essay. Anyway, let me know how tou get on and I'll keep you posted.

Hi Broxi, I can't say really, not from my experience anyway because I stopped before reaching my goal weight as well, mainly because people were telling me I looked gaunt and frail, not words I'd ever have associated with myself. :)

Had you maybe set yourself to ambitious a target?

The other thing is I think the nearer to goal you get the harder it is to lose.
