Hello - new to SW !

Hi all - thanks for letting me join the site! I have just started SW with my Hubbie - we both have lots to lose - he has been ill for past couple of years and the weight has crept on!
Both determined to do something about it now! Day 3 of SW - must confess I am finding it tough but am trying to power through! Any tips for hunger management great fully received!

I'm not sure about sw but on Atkins I just nail a sausage when I'm peckish! Haha, and supposedly drinking lots of water helps, pah, water booo hiss!
Good luck to both of you! Keep us updated!

Thanks for the quick reply Brett - will try drinking water but suspect this will get boring quickly!
Hubbie seems to be less hungry than me but determined to give this a good go!

I agree with upping your water intake, if it gets boring you can have no added sugar squash.
I also felt really hungry at the beginning and was struggling but I carried on and it did get easier so don't give up :) I think it's your body sort of getting use to it x

Yeah it's all a battle in the mind more than anything it seems, liquid just dosent cure that craving of wanting somthing a bit more substantial does it lol. But like the lady above says, it's somthing you just have to get used to, stomach shrinks eventually and you don't need or want as much, plus your stomach gets used to digesting things at certain times with certain cues hence the grumbling when it's not had its fill! Just gotta grit your teeth and stick with it till it gets easier! I'm sure you'll kick some as*!

Hi Bonnie :)

I am very similar to you, as soon as I am on a diet or plan my brain tries to convince me that I am desperately hungry all the time :) I found last time I did SW for a long time, this did ease over time. I have been back on the plan for almost 2 weeks and am kind of splitting up my meals a bit so I can nibble little and often which is really helping. For instance I don't eat fruit at breakfast, I might have my healthy extras and then about mid morning some fruit salad and yoghurt just while I get back into the swing of things.

Water does help a bit, I find tea helps too. Try and distract yourself if you know you have had enough to eat by taking a walk, reading a book, changing where you sit, talking to someone. Don't look at food/recipes on the internet or in magazines til it passes. I think that's part of it, we are all looking for new great recipes and ideas for food and so we are constantly seeing yummy things which of course makes us want to eat.

The very best of luck to you and your husband, the first few weeks are always going to be a big change and a challenge, you can definitely do this.

Thabks for all the replies! Really encouraging.
Today I'm going for more water and spacing out the food consumption!
Think yesterday was bad as I was back at work after Easter holiday and didn't get to eat anything after breakfast till gone 1pm by which time I was starving!
Will try and build some time into my day for a snack or at least a drink!
Day 4 - bring it on!

Hi I started sw in October I have currently lost 3st 11.5 lbs. I haven't moved for the last 3 weeks (the first week there was an Easter egg and a bottle of wine wobble lol)
