Hi all I have never done one of these before but I thought I'd give it a go as im finding this REALLY tough!!!
So Im only 4 days into this diet and i started of so positive thinking that eating as much as you want of curtain foods would be great....only i never seem to feel satisfied! EVER! I'm eating nice tasty food but I cant help but feel im missing something and all i can think about is sweet things! its all i think about all day! i gave up smoking not so long ago and i swear i want a biscuit now more than i have ever wanted a cigarette.
So last night i went out and bought some purevia, low fat cocoa and other ingredients to make some dukan chocky muffins. The smell was amazing! they looked fantastic! i was sooo excited i wanted to cry!! BUT! then i actually tried one.... the most disgusting thing i have ever ever eaten! it was awful! i gave one to my son and my brother and they also confirmed that they where just totaly inedible! I then decided to try some of the sweetener on its own just to make sure that it was that that was leaving this god awful taste in my mouth, sure enough it was. if it hadnt been for the looks on my son and brothers faces as they where trying to wash the taste out of there mouths at the sink, i might have cried.
So can any one recommend a sweetener that i can use in food? i dont have sweet tea or coffe so aslong as it goes well in cakes and biscuits PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME :p:confused:

Aww not good, I feel your pain!!! :(

I am used to sweeteners as I have one in tea so I am not too bad with the taste of them, however I have always found that saccharin sweeteners taste a LOT better than those made from aspartame. Splenda is one example of a decent one but it is more expensive. As I am on a budget I just buy the shops own one. Asda does one with a yellow lid for £1. Make sure you check the liable though as they also do an aspartame one in their own brand too. Good luck with it :)

I would recommend splenda. Also, what recipe are you using for muffins? Maybe the quantities are a bit off, and this could have affected the taste? When I used to make chocolate muffins I'd also add a few drops of vanilla which made them taste really nice.

Don't panic, you'll get your choccie fix soon! :D

Splenda is more expensive but works well. And yes its never a good idea to eat it on its own, the taste is nothing like sugar! :D
I am tempted to think you had too much baking powder or soda if you used any? I remember making the ginger cookies and I used too much soda, boy they were vile! It was like eating soda from the tin and I had to throw them away.
Good luck with your next lot! I recommend beating your whites til stiff then folding into the other mixture, I find the muffins have a light texture and taste better than when you whack everything in together. It takes slightly longer but its worth it!

Did you make muffins with the oatbran? There are a number of recipes on this site, my fave is one by a lady called Trudy. I use asda sweetner too, not had any problems. Sweetner will always leave a taste, but you do get used to it. Def try this recipe.

[h=1]Trudy’s Muffins[/h]4 tablespoons oatbran
2 tablespoons wheatbran
6 tablespoons skimmed milk powder
4 tablespoons sweetner
4 eggs
1 tsp baking powder
vanilla essence
200ml Flavoured FF Yogurt (I buy plain and flavour it myself)
3 tablespoons quark

Whisk all together and put into silicone muffin moulds, I get between 12-16 muffins depending how much I put in each case.
Bake for 25 - 30 mins at 160
Leave to cool!!
Divide the number of muffins made by 4 and then have that number per day....this equals half your daily amount of brans and leaves some allowances for other things, like porridge. I freeze the rest in their daily portions and then just take out the night before.

Everyone does different ones!!! You can add any flavour you want or rhubarb or ginger
