I joined a gym and didn't fall over!

Having a very lovely life
I've been really apprehensive about starting more exercise, have had some increased dizziness in the last week or so and was allowing my anxieties to creep in again (I live alone in the week and get a bit nervous about stuff like passing out and banging my head and my cats eating me!! lol!). I bought a groupon a couple of weeks ago for 3 months membership at a ladies only gym locally, so no reason not to go - no sweaty staring men, not far to travel, not too expensive, not a very long commitment... had my induction planned in for last night, and up to an hour before I just was not going!

I did go though, and I'm really pleased I did. It wasn't so much an induction as a personal training session, I was lead round a full circuit workout by a trainer, being shown what to do, but was expected to do it! The gym was great - one thing I didn't reckon on, was that without sweaty staring men, there were also no gym bunnies, most likely cause there were no sweaty staring men!! It was full of middle aged overweight women so I fitted right in, and it felt very comfortable.

And most of all - I didn't feel faint, I didn't keel over, I didn't feel ill. I felt energised and will be going back very soon. And I'm someone who would have rather done an hours detention at school for getting caught not following the cross country route and having a half hour sit down instead :)

That's brilliant we'll done! I joined the gym earlier this year and have to say I love it! Again well done for going!

Wow, fantastic - well done for taking the first step (always the hardest!!)
That sounds like my kind of gym... once I've settled into the diet maybe I'll take the plunge and have a go too! :D

Is it a chain of gyms? Sounds like my kind of gym, I used to go but got fed up of plodding happily on my treadmill and having people sigh and tut as I wasn't sprinting for 10 minutes then giving them the machine!!

That's great hun :). Wish I could afford gym membership again.

It is a chain, not sure how widespread, the groupon was a local deal and one of the two it applied to just happened to be only a couple of miles from me. I only paid £29 for 3 months membership so it's peanuts really. Ladies Workout Express, they seem to be American based with some UK franchises, might be one near you?

Cool thanks, sadly nothing near me but I think I will keep an eye out for new ones opening.

Brilliant.

I enjoy the gym gives me loads of energy. Hoping it teaches me good habits for when I maintain
