This Is only a rumour but has a time heard the rumour that reason Peter Andre was at the awards is because of a deal with Iceland to produce slimming world ready meals?

Has anyone heard this? And what's your views?

I haven't heard anything, but I would personally rather cook from scratch than have ready made meals, although think it is good to give people different options, when busy it will help people stick to plan x

I've mixed feelings but it might not be even true.

I think for me there's to problems one the choice of provider last time I went in an Iceland the food left alot to be desired though I've not been for years so it could of been improved.

Second if my club turns into a sales pitch to get ppl to buy products ill go back doing it from home.

We live opposite an Iceland and very little be buy from there apart from quorn, but don't think it has improved too much from the look of it. I am doing SW from home at the moment, miss being able to buy the hifi bars, hopefully it doesn't become a sales pitch - I think that will depend on the consultant leading the session, when I went to the group the consultant was focused on what the group wanted rather than what SW wanted her to do which was really good

I like Icelands I use stuff in the slowcooker and it's been great (meat & veg). I think it's a good idea if you have had a busy day come home tired and need something immediate yet will still keep you on plan. Be interesting to see what Znd if it happens, then I can assess whether it will be for me or not

I have heard rumours that SW are going to launch a ready meal range. I'm primarily Weight Watchers and the two leaders I've had are on record as disliking the ready meals they do, one even discourages the "in meeting" snacks, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. But the idea of SW "ready meals" goes blow the mind somewhat.

It's accepted as being part of weight watchers but if sw join the band wagon are they moving with the times or selling there fresh cooked ideals to the devil by trying to

They did try a ready meals option before which I think were only trialled in this area (East Anglia) you had to order them. They were expensive but very good and large portions, however they never went Nationwide so I wonder why they think they'll be popular this time? Personally Im with SW over WW because I know I would each too much packaged stuff with WW.

Someone on FB suggested a 5:2 approach and said someone they knew had trialled it and had fantastic losses. Someone else said its just new books, which is not a big surprise. Is it being announced tomorrow (also mentioned on FB) ??

I've not heard about a new plan, but I heard about meals being told tomorrow but, it could be totally untrue.

There have been rumours of ready meals for the last ten years, that I know of. And nothing has ever come of it. I would imagine that if they did go to the time, trouble and enormous expense of marketing a range of food, SW wouldn't want it to be sold in just one supermarket, with such a small market share.

They always have a "celebrity" at the awards. This time it was actually someone I have heard of! According to a friend who was there, he was brilliant.

Well of course it is a money-making scheme. Companies exist to make money.

Yes but in this game when they use health, Nhs, and living healthy life as their biggest force to make that money. It's not always beneficial to be so hypocritical as a company. There will undoubtedly be a loss of respect.

Maybe it's me. Maybe I am just too old and too cynical. But I don't expect any company to do anything that doesn't bring in more money. For me, respect doesn't come into it. It's business.

For instance, the new Co-op banking advert. Millions spent on an advert telling us how ethical they are, and proving it by someone having a tattoo. Did I believe it? Not for a minute. If they were that ethical they would have spent the money on something worth while. It's an advert to get them more customers.

(And yet there are loads of people out there in la-la land, complaining to the Daily Mail and Twittering like crazy because, guess what, the tattoo wasn't real.)

I've heard the rumours and was really pleased about it. It would be a godsend if it's true cz I'm struggling big time after going back to work from maternity leave (my own fault not being organised enough). I understand that it would be better to cook ur own meals but it's not always possible. I don't understand negative reactions to the news I personally think if u want to use them do, if u don't don't lol. Xx

Oh but I agree with you. I wasn't disagreeing with the principle, just saying that I don't expect anything better from big business. (Or small business either.)

I haven't bought Cadbury products since 2006, when they took six months to notify the Food Standards Agency (and their customers) that their chocolate was contaminated with salmonella - something that most people don't now remember.

I wouldn't buy anything just because it was advertised by a celebrity (most of whom I have never heard of anyway). I go past an Iceland shop nearly every day, but have never been in. And probably never will.

Though there is a new plan coming out, our consultant is on it in December and rolls to group in January I believe. Don't get feeling its anything drastic though.
