Is it easy to Dukan on a budget?

Hey guys,
I'm just about to start the dukan diet. I'm really looking forward to it as everyone seems to be doing so well.
Me and my boyfriend have both gained weight and are each going on a diet, and who ever gets to their goal weight first gets a prize!i
That's One big motivation!
I was just wandering though is this going to be an expensive journey that I may have to give up? Or are there ways in which the Dukan can be reasonably priced?

Have a look on the "Dukan on a budget" thread where we all post good deals we come across! Actually, I think Dukan is definitely no more expensive than eating the things that make us put weight on. No alcohol, no take-aways, no desserts, no crisps, chocolate etc. And you don't have to have steak every night, in fact I rarely do! I have been Dukaning for a year and can safely say I spend no more on food than I used to.

A good tip would be to invest in a yogurt maker, plain total 0% yogurt is not cheap, i go through loads of yogurt. Good luck, whats the prize going to be? Cx

No, it's not easy to do Dukan on a budget. It's bloody expensive!

Depends where you shop too, i get a lot of stuff from Aldi, and farmfoods, fromage frais and quark i get from tesco or asda

I would say its expensive because you eat lots of meat and lean meat so that tends to be quite higher in price BUT its not that much more compared to all the C$%^(*&P I used to eat regularly. You can stock up on meat when its on offer and freeze. It even crossed my mind to order half of a cow from my butcher and mince it myself and pop it in the freezer LOL
IT IS A FAB plan though and for that its worth doing if your finances allow.

I definitely disagree, we really don't have much money but I do not think I spend more per week on Dukan than on what I did before. Factor in the cost of alcohol and snackfood which we don't have and choose cheaper cuts of meat, use a slow cooker, have plenty of eggs. Shop wisely, don't buy processed food.

Hmmmm .... I think it's expensive. Well, it is in terms of the family budget but the savings I make on wine rolleyes, crisps cool and sneaky lunchtime sandwiches eek definitely compensate.

Besides, my health is worth it - right?

If you've a Costco near you it's worth a trip there too, the frozen chicken breasts are lovely & can be cooked from frozen

I started today. I went in m& s to get some packets of sliced meat for the fridge at work to snacks on.. Now admittedly that isn't the cheapest shop but I wanted something nice and there was an offer for 3 packs for £6. It occurred to me while I was queuing that I would normally spend more than that I have fruit when I was doing Weight Watchers so I think it is swings and roundabouts

Hi all, cheaper for me I think as the meat is cheaper than the ww meals I used to buy. And the hangover curry and chocolate !!! But suppose it depends on what you ate before x

Sliced meats etc are expensive and, usually, are inappropriate for Dukan. Check the ingredients of those M&S ones you bought. They're usually delicious for a reason! (I could be wrong!). This diet can be done on a budget with a little foreplanning. For instance, I always consult the offers online before going shopping and tend to work my menus around them. Buying in bulk when something is on offer, and doing without when it's out of season or particularly expensive. Dukan certainly does send us back to the kitchen which has to be a good thing long term...

I bought a side of salmon for a tenner in Tesco!!!! got about 5 fillets out of it, put them in the freezer. Cx

I have been buying a lot of whole chickens lately. Cheaper and more substantial than breasts and I just looove picking all the meat off. A chicken can be as cheap as £2.50 in the supermarket and does me for two meals.

(*morally I wish I could afford to buy the more expensive chickens which I have no doubt have been treated more humanely.)

Thanks Guys, we usually shop in tescos, but we have everything round here! Aldi Is a good Idea, they always do good deals so I will go and have a look down there. Theres only 2 of us so our shopping's only around 30 - 50 a week at the moment, but we do Like pizza on the weekends, so I guess overall I'll probably do alright and save a bit of money!
Not sure what I want yet if I win. He wants a another Snake. Even more motivation for me to win!
