Just Wondering

Did you all start Slim and Save on SS or did any of you start with the 3 packs and the loe carb/high protein meal? Just wondering what initial weightlosses have been like on that?

Thanks

Heya Sarah,

Not sure what you mean by SS?

The weight loss is exactly the same whether you start off with 4 packs or 3 packs plus protein as it all adds up to the same amount really, its really down to personal choice rather than the difference between one losing you more weight than the other. I mix both of them together i,e one day ill have 3 packs plus protein and the next ill have 4 packs. When I first started slim and save I did my first month 4 packs then later on introduced the protein meals.

Hope that's what you were asking :p

Yup that's what i mean't :) Thanks

Me and my Mum are thinking of going back on a meal replacement diet having done LL in the past and lost about 3st but Mum suffered horribly with constipation ( we tried everything, more water, the fibre supplement they sold, pills and nothing worked) so wants to do something with an added meal. We were thinking of CD but this just looks like you have so much more choice and the flavours all get great reviews. Seriously considering it now......

SS = Sole Source, ie total food replacement so just packs.

I started with 3 packs per day (used to be one of the plans when I started out last year). If it wasn't I'd have started out on 4 packs per day. I added the veg in 'sometimes' after the first 6 weeks, then every day. Then in about Feb this year I started having the protein meal and veg. Very recently (it wasn't part of the plan until a couple of months or so ago anyway) I added in the milk allowance but I didn't have it very often - just weekends generally. I'm now refeeding so am doing things slightly differently but still using some of the mealpacks.

I decided to start off with just the packs until I craved something else and took it from there. I decided that if I started off including everything I would have a harder time sticking to it when I wanted something else. The way I did it introducing things really slowly meant that I managed to stay on plan without too much difficulty. I found that this worked ok for me as there was a gradual introduction of new things that meant that the diet didn't become too boring very quickly.

In terms of weight loss my personal opinion is that people may lose more if they only have the packs. That's not based on any scientific fact but just my personal opinion plus having observed the weight loss of many people on the diet over the last few months.

Carrot, I was like your mum and suffer terribly on a VLCD. I tried every fibre supplement known to man and nothing helped so I used to take Dulcolax Pico Perles twice a week to stay regular when I was on SS. Quite recently however I have discovered Scandanavian Crispbreads and having 2 per day keeps me regular now. I'm refeeding now though so I don't know if they would have worked for me on SS. They add 60 calories and 6g of carbs to the total but personally I would have them instead of the milk as it's about the same calories / carbs wise if I went back onto SS. I know people worry about taking laxatives but for me it was take them or get into big trouble! Also, since starting to refeed everything has returned to normal.

Totally unrelated to what this thread is about...I'm on my first week of slim and save and today I had a mammoth amount of spinach and mushrooms with my cottage pie (my partner prepared it for me!) I didn't have the heart to tell him it was too much so I ate it now I'm worrying stupidly because I think I may have blown my first week!! I've been so good too! Will this affect my loss much?

Won't make too much difference I shouldn't think. The calories in the veg are pretty low anyway so you could double it and not make a big difference to the calories. I wouldn't do it too often though as you won't want the carbs to affect you going into or staying in ketosis. Get the OH used to having the scales permanently on the worktop - mine live there now :)

He wont be doin it again bless him! We shall find out Monday I weighed Friday and had lost 8.4lb which is fantastic but I'd love a bit more! Did a fair bit of walking today so am hoping that will balance it out!

Thanks everyone.

Think Mum will def go down the route of having the protein, although not sure how she will manage as i think she'll get a bit bored with just white meat... She's not a chicken or turkey fan. I'm not sure which route i will take...
