I only have a meal when I'm doing a 12 hour shift so far all I'm having is chicken with lettuce and its cold and I'm bored.

Any other suggestions? We have a microwave in staff room, unable to do soups or meal packs though as my diet is private unless I can put the cold water over the pack before i leave for work at 6.30am put in fridge then microwave? Don't have lunch till about 3 though?

Thanks for any suggestions.

What about making a soup with your protein and veg options. then take it to work in a flask.

Could you not make the soup like a cup-a-soup! Surely it can't be that private-and no one would question you having a mug of soup would they?

I do that for my 5 mins break. If anything I need that meal for the calories as I'm very busy on the ward.

I would say have a meal pack. No problem, or anyone's business!! More important you get a mealpack & protein to get through your shift hun !

The packs have to be used within 10 mins of making so that wouldn't work!

Except that the suggestion wasn't to make a pack up - it was to make soup with the protein and vegetables - real food!

You could try other salads - such as tuna or egg - although that doesn't solve the cold food problem! Could you heat up the chicken in the microwave?

Sorry-I misread it-I read it as 'make up your soup and have it with the protein and veg options' sorry :(
