Hi Everyone,

New to this and have given myself a target of a year to lose 54lbs :)

Have decided not to try and lose too quickly as this has not worked for me in the past, I want to make a permanent change that I can live with.

Two weeks in and have lost 7ib. Would be great to hear fro anyone else on the journey!

2 weeks in and you've already lost 7lb, that is fab! Well done!

It sounds like a very good and sensible time scale and I wish you the best of luck, How are you planning on doing it?

Thanks for responding. I'm counting calories and using MyFitnessPal. I'm finding keeping a food diary and recording my weight really useful. I've tried Slimming World in the past and it does work but I think I get too competitive and focus on how much weight I can lose a week instead of looking at it as a long term plan.
 
I did MFP last year and found it really good, I liked that it names and shames you if you don't log in!! I actually joined slimming world again a few weeks ago but I do think the simple more easy way to slim down is calorie count (I just don't have the restraint!) I also found I actually wanted to do exercise, just so I could log it! :D
 
Hi there Moomere, I think what a lot of people don't get is we should be changing our lifestyles, it's not a diet we are on it's a lifestyle change and we generally need it to keep the weight off, how many times have we all experienced or heard others say "I lost X amount of weight, but then it all went back on!" And that's because unless you stay on a vlcd for ever it won't work if you don't count calories for the rest of your time it won't work, that's why I have chosen a "Healthy Eating Plan" Slimming World, ;) and because I will keep at it always I will continue to get to target and then maintain.
it's not a fad it's a way of life ;) good luck with your journey
 
Thanks for the input. I haven't ruled out returning to Slimming World, I really do think it works - and I can't help but think in Slimming World terms when I am planning meals! I just need to get things straight with me. I'm not sure that the Image Therapy sessions make me feel that my weight loss is for me. I always felt at group that I was being encouraged to state how much weight I was aiming to lose for next week and setting myself up to fail.

Hello there, I'm a newbie here too.

Have to 2nd what "The Caretaker" said, I've tried nearly every diet but I could never reach target & the failure & subsequent shame just made me put on more weight. So I'm trying Slimming World, making healthy choices with hardly any counting & I can honestly see meself getting to goal this time.
