My new journey.. :)

Hi.. again!

So I'm back after a very long time, feel like I need support from the forum right now. I have been yo-yoing for forever now and really really want to get it sorted! It's my graduation in july, a once in a lifetime thing, and I want to look good for it! I've tried various diets over the last few years and they just (obviously!) haven't worked! So now hopefully going to take it back to basics, and just eat clean. No calorie counting, no panicking or missing out entire food groups, just eat clean, as nature intended us! I want to base my diet around lean proteins (white meat, fish, eggs), lots of veggies, some grains (lentils, quinoa, bugler wheat) some good fats (avocado :heartpump:) and fruits. It seems pretty simple, and that's how I'm going to try it!

Off out shopping tomorrow to get stocked up, ready to start on Monday. Why do we always start on Mondays? Haha. Tonight I find myself out for dinner with OH so Monday sounds best for me!

Hopefully typical day will be like:
Breakfast: Porridge with almond milk or eggs and veggies
Lunch: Chicken/egg/tuna salad with lettuce, cottage cheese, peppers, etc. Or soup (without bread.. until I learn to make homemade sugar free one!) or leftovers
Dinner: I think the main thing for me to remember is not every meal has to be a 'recipe meal' if you know what I mean. Sometimes simple chicken with veg can do the trick! Favorites at the minute are chilli con carni with sweet potato, chicken curry with veggies and stir frys. Not sure which noodles I can have that are 100% clean though!

Soooo fingers crossed I'll do well. I hope so. I'm also planning on running a couple of times a week to get the exercise going.
Wish me luck! Will post tomorrow when I've done my shopping. I'm also going to start trying to add some 'super foods' to my diet, but they're just so expensive :( maybe one per week? Anyway. Talk tomorrow! Much love <3

Enjoy your meal out tonight and good luck with your weight loss journey, your plan looks very good.

Thanks Mini!

Okay so just planning my meals for the week. I already have quite a bit of chicken in, as well as some tuna and prawns. And some left overs in the freezer! So already slightly prepared :) I'm going to keep my breakfast's simple, as I sometimes don't have much time in the mornings. i think my week is going to be pretty much what I outlined in my first post haha! I think it's dinners that will be hardest for me, they're the things I need to plan most. So, for 7 days next week I will have: soup one day (homemade vegetable and lentil, from the freezer!), homemade chicken curry 2 nights with vegetables, stir fry 2 nights with either prawns or chicken (going to try and find the cleanest noodles I can! and a recipe for homemade stir fry sauce), then maybe roast chicken with veggies the other two nights. Nice cheap week for me!

Oh and also, we all know what Tuesday is.. Pancake day! I have been following The Kitchen Shed's blog, and there are some lovely recipes on there. Including this for Clean blueberry pancakes! Clean Eating Blueberry Pancakes I am determined that on my clean eating journey I will not feel deprived, as that's when I start to crumble. So hopefully these are a winner! Plus, not many ingredients keeps the cost low, and I'm a student on a budget so that ticks another box :) I'm excited to make these, and thats what I think will keep me going.. Knowing I'm eating good, healthy, but also NICE food! I'm such a foodie so anything boring won't do haha.

Actually excited to start properly tomorrow! I have such an all-or-nothing mind frame, which I am constantly trying to challenge. I think, oh that's not 100% healthy so I'll just be unhealthy the rest of the day, which is a shame. So on this new plan, I'm going to try and keep it to 80% clean, with 20% leeway. Nobody is ever 100% perfect!!

Hi Misswilma14 and welcome back :)

I hope you are getting on well with your new plan which sounds very sensible. I'm starting today on a journey to eating healthy but taking it slowly, for me I eat mindlessly, emotionally and just all the time so for the first week I want to eat just 3 meals and 2 snacks/fruits. Then I can consider eating more veggies and balanced meals.

I look forward to your next update!

Thanks Jen! I actually forgot about this thread and posted a new one last night. I've been doing really well on the above plan and actually lost around 10lbs in the process! IT's really easy to follow and amazing how much food you can eat! I eat mindlessly as well - it's a real tricky one to get out of. A lot of people have raved on about a book called the Beck Diet Solution, saying it's a life changing type thing! Based on the psychological principles of CBT - I'm planning on giving it a try :) anyway I'm going to be posting on the newer thread I created http://www.minimins.com/weight-loss-diary/351283-quitting-sugar-challenge.html so keep up over there! Thanks for the support! :)

Thanks for letting me know about your new thread and congrats on the 10lb loss :) I will go and subscribe!
