Nuts?

This comes from the Kee diet site (which I learnt here use the same products as S & S, though the programme is somewhat different). There they recommend 6 nuts, 3 times per week- there is a list but the nut I think is overall the best is almonds. This is said to prevent or work towards preventing gallstones, which can be prevalent (they say) on a VLCD. I've mentioned this before and to my mind it's hard to see that it is the VLCD which lies behind gallstones and not just the fact that some of us are in the 'fair, fat and forty' classification. With a maternal history of gallstones, I wondered if I might introduce this nut 'allowance' or might it send my ketosis into free fall? I wouldn't have thought so, as Kee diet works on ketosis. Would appreciate your thoughts!

Nuts have carbs I believe but not too many. I'm always horrified at the number of calories nuts have but a tiny number won't hurt. If nuts really did prevent gallstones though I'm sure the more established VLCDs would have latched onto that. I'm pretty sure I already have gallstones so no nuts will prevent me getting them sadly.

Thanks BG. Nuts are high, I know and I wasn't sure whether they are a known component of other VLCDs. Sounds like they aren't so I might stick to the Omega capsules. Have been taking these since the start so know they don't affect my ketosis. Besides, I can't imagine me NOT popping in a few extra nuts now and then!

I think nuts might be classed as a snack on AAW8 but I don't think they tell you to have them for the reason you're suggesting.

Yes, I still have my AAW8 booklets and nuts are on the snacklist. e.g. 20 peanuts per day. Can dig out the details if you want them.

Thanks Maka! That's kind of you but I think I'll give the nuts a miss. I'm sure the omega oil capsule will make up for any nut oil and I might just overdo that teeny number. I'm used to just knocking handfuls back!

Would omega oil help with hair issues/ Mine's gone all dry and breaking along the hairline BIG TIME! Receding haiirline...help!!!!!!

I'm not sure. My dr advised them as I was suffering from v low B12 last year. I tend to loose a lot of hair normally, so hoping more hair loss, as a result of this diet doesn't have me reaching for a wig! Seriously, I haven't noticed an increase in hairloss and the Triple Omega Complex capsule I take doesn't seem to interfere with the VLCD. I take a US brand, you can prob. get them there Maka. Do they have Boots in Oman yet? I got them in Boots here.

I'm not sure the supplements make much difference Maka. I have hairloss now (5 months in) but it's starting to slow down now. I had the same last time I did a VLCD and my friend at work who has been on LL the same length of time as me has it too. I was dead worried last time around as I wondered if it would ever stop but it's pretty much stopped now 4 weeks on and I have relatively thick hair so it doesn't notice. It's just a bit of a shock when I brush my hair or see it in the shower tray. I took Perfectil this time round that is supposed to be for hair, skin and nails but it seemed to make b****r all difference to be honest. I do know that it will stop and all will be fine. A small price to pay for my quest to slimville.

New avatar looks great by the way!

I haven't seen a Boots here, Giza. Maybe I'll check out what treatments I could use because my hair is a point of vanity for me...looool :)
Hopefully, like you BG, the hairloss will stop. I have VERY fine hair though :-(

I take 6 unsalted almonds 3 times a week as the kee diet suggests, I will probably be able to gauge better if it affecting my loss in later weeks as I have only done one. Just as a point of interest as I am obsessed with keeping a healthy bowel etc - peanuts and cashews are mucus forming so if you're eating nuts stick away from them :-D
