OFF TOPIC - what do we all do?!

Okay, okay so I admit to having a very large human interest gene (that is, I'm nosey ;)) but when reading all the lovely diaries, there are often comments relating to that four lettered word - W-O-R-K! And I just wondered what we all actually do? I bet we have many and varied skills between us. I'll start us off ....

I'm an office manager for a financial services company, based in the centre of Birmingham. We're a small (10 people) private company but wholly owned by Birmingham City Council (which gives us the best of both worlds - a bit of security without being classed as 'public sector':D). I've been here since 2007. Sounds boring and it is sometimes but mostly I love it :D

To feed your human interest gene..... I am a deli counter manager at M&S. I work with all the fresh food including making fresh pasta, cooking pies, pasties and sausage rolls. Selling cheeses, meats and restaurant quality meals such as lasagne, fish pie, fish cakes etc. Whenever we get new products I have to (seriously, its part of my job) try all of them so I'm able to recommend them to customers.
 
I am a supply Teaching Assistant for foundation stage children. Before my DD was born i was an Assistant Accountant/Secretary, then when DD started school and I volunteered to help out it went from there and I got my NVQ. I love being in at ground level, it kind of makes you feel all warm and fuzzy to know that I am involved in helping those children to learn a lifetime of skills ie., reading and writing. It might only be one day a week, and I might only be sat guiding a child, but its used thousands of times a day, and when you realise a child has learnt ABC 123 its brilliant.

I would also say I am a Stay At Home Mum too as I spend more days than not at home, I look after house, home daughter and husband LOL, all the usual household stuff, as most of you will know.
 
I am currently a student with the Open Uni doing BSc Criminology and Psychology.
Not being able to work at the moment, i felt i should do a degree at home so that when things improve i may stand in better stead for applying for a job.
Also, after being on some meds and going from a size 14 to a size 24 within 12 months, i figured i could use this time to lose weight amd get fitter if possible too.
P.s i am very nosey and love to people watch... This is just an extension of that :p
 
I'm a higher level teaching assistant and also currently doing my primary education with qualified teacher status degree. I'm in the first year of a 4 year part time degree.
 
I'm a secretary / PA for an oil engineering company & I sleep with the boss ..... Well I do live with him lol I also run a Connemara pony breeding stud & do a bit of crafting

Loving this thread...I too, am a nosey buggar!

I am a student nurse, at uni and work part time whenever I get the chance as an agency care assistant. Love my job. Can't wait to qualify! Xx
 
I'm a physiotherapist. Both in the nhs and for a football team. Keeps me busy (at this point I should point out views my own etc etc!)
 
I'm a bilingual legal PA to a partner (and his team) in an international law firm in Paris.

I am the head housekeeper at a 4* hotel. I have only been in the job for a year and it has been a real challenge and will continue to be so for a few months yet with the changes I have had to make so far this year!
 
Love this thread, I train horses and manage a stud farm and part time HGV lorry driver with terrible reversing skills!
 
I'm a nurse who has specialised in anti-coagulation so I work with patients who have funny heart rythmns, have had dvt's or pe's

Use to be a health visitor too :0)
 
Ok I work as a manager at BT, I am currently in the "pool" looking for my next role

Have work for them for 23 years doing various roles, started off as a operator :)

So I know who to go to when hubby forgets his warfarin and has a funny turn. LOL. PE sufferer.
