Proggramme on channel 2

I watched this program, it was really interesting, what struck me was all of the people he interviewed said the same thing which is a diet will work if you stick at it & stops working when you don't, which is stating the obvious, but we sometimes forget.

I did have to laugh though at the WW guys comments, he is so true & very honest.

And what about the slim fast guy how inventive was he, he certainly hit the market right.

I think there are four programs in the series & the next is about diet food.

I thought it was really interesting to see that a lot of things we consider to be modern problems have actually been around forever! Like fashion models and the media encouraging unrealistic body types.

It didn't tell us anything we didn't already know though. Diets work cause they help you lose weight, but as soon as you stop them, the weight goes back on. And the diet industry is out to make money out of people! Shock! Horror! Next week it will be a program about water being wet!

Was this "The Men Who Made Us Thin"? I completely agree that for people like me it's a constant battle with food and diets are a tool to control it not a solution to being overweight. It's like the show was completely ignoring the fact once you reach your goal weight you are in the maintenance phase. They didn't go into any detail at all about maintenance which is just as important as losing the weight to begin with (I'm guessing....still in weight loss phase).

If it was I watched that and got so excited as during my year working in NY I was in the old Met Life building which featured in the show....quite lame to get excited about something like that but I was jumping around the living room pointing.....just a little :p

I preferred his prequel to this "The Men Who Made Us Fat"
I found it much more informative than this one.
Below is the link in case anyone would like to watch it. Each part is about an hour long. x

documentary The Men Who Made Us Fat Part 1

The Men Who Made Us Fat ''Episode 2/3''

The Men Who Made Us Fat ''Episode 3/3''

They should be listed in order x

I've just watched all three, amazing, what is amazing is how marketing plays such an important part, and it's just simple things like increasing portion sizes & making products 'to share'. I knew about cereals, yogurts etc which claim to be healthy but have too much sugar, salt, fat in them.

My two children were only allowed fast food on birthdays or special occasions & not allowed it on a regular basis, they were only allowed fizzy pop at Christmas or birthdays as well.

Flippin eck pretty amazing programme:D

I thought it was both amazing and deplorable at the same time. Just how sneaky they are about it all!
I never knew a lot of what they said.

When I was young we used to have fish & chips or KFC or something once a month. It was always pay day and shopping day and mum would go shopping straight from work and come in with a takeaway (I think part treat and part knackered mum lol)

I can't get over twisted it all is, and that governments bow down to them. I thought it was the big oil/energy corps but, just goes to show I guess!

Glad you enjoyed them though :)

I agree with that. However I do think they take major liberties with the lack of regulations.

But ultimately we are the ones who buy and eat it. Masses are easily led I guess as far as they are concerned. As long as there's a buck in it, there seems to be no qualms from them.
