Safest sweeteners

I've done a search for the safest sweeteners to use and can't really find much. On the web you have no idea if the results found are biased!

Does anyone here have any idea which sweeteners are considered safe? I mainly want to use sweetener in cooking.

Thanks x

They are all safe, as long as you use them in moderation. But most people seem to prefer the sucralose ones in terms of taste, so splenda or one of the supermarket own brand versions of this.

Sucralose is safest with health concerns, as it's just modified sucrose which is normal table sugar. it normally comes in a yellow jar, I use tesco's own brand as it's ALL sucralose (plus an anticaking agent) not a sucralose/aspartame mix.

I bought Splenda but on looking at the ingredients it says maltodextrin, sweetener Sucralose 1%. I'll have to get to tesco and look at theirs.

Btw for regular users of Splenda it is on offer in Morrisons at £1.83 for the large 125g pack. I think it said one third off. X

Unless you have a gluten intolerance it will be perfectly fine, it's a wheat derivative and appears in all the sucrolose sweeteners as far as I can tell - certainly the tecso and and asda ones.
