Skinny for summer

Today is my first day on the Cambridge plan. Just finished work and so far feeling fine (other than a headache but had one yesterday too so don't think it's related). I had a porridge for breakfast and a soup for lunch as well as 4 pints of water. I'm doing SS+ so looking forward to my dinner this evening.

My start weight is 12.2lb and I'd like to get to about 9-9.7lb. I'm 5ft2" so think 9st would be a good weight for me.

Starting to worry already about all of those times people ask me to go for lunch etc and not being able to. Today at work they're planning a big afternoon tea and I don't really want to say I'm dieting. I'm sure it will be fine and I'll find a way to avoid it.

I'm going to a festival in June and I'd love to be in shorts for then!

If anyone has any tips or advice then it'd be great!
 
Hi! I've just started too, on day 2 now! What festival are you going to? I'd also love to be wearing shorts when I go to Leeds this year, hoping to be wearing them without tights this year! Get those sexy legs out! Haha!

Don't worry about not being able to go out places, you can always work around things. Like ordering a chicken salad and drinking water, ok so it's not cocktails and a lovely meal but it means you're not missing out of socialising!
 
How are you feeling on day 2? I'm going to Isle of Wight - can't wait! When is Leeds? Have you set yourself weightloss goal for it? Shorts is the dream...! haha.

Yeah you're right about going out. I need to learn to work round it! And when I've lost the weight I'm sure I'll make up for it!!
 
I started yesterday too so this is my second day! I'm so excited about going to leeds this year, and like you've both said i want to be able to wear shorts! i am starting to worry now though that i won't loose as much as i want too! but if i am doing it all correctly and no cheating or whatever it will work right?
 
Yeah I don't see why not! I think they say a stone a month right? I'd really like it if that were true but I guess we'll see. I'd quite like to lose the first stone quite quickly!!

How much are you both hoping to lose?

Day two was ok, and day 3 has been good too, it doesn't seem too bad this time round. Hows your day been?

Leeds is on August bank holiday, so I'm hoping to be about 11 stone, oh man, just thinking of that seems so good! haha!
 
Oh exciting! Im not too sure what my target is for isle of wight. Not really sure how much I should expect to lose a week. Any idea?

I'm in day 3 too and feel fine. Not suffered at all really with any side effects but not sure if it takes a bit longer to hit?
 
Usually it's 1stone a month, so you could squeeze in 2 stone by IOW!

I think the side effects are usually within the first few days during the period that your body is changing its energy source, so diners crossed you've bypassed them!
 
Oh that would be amazing if I could do 2 stone!! I'm doing SS+ because my CDC said there is very little difference in weight loss between that and SS and I usually am very active so better for me - hope that's the case.

Well hopefully you're right and I'm missing out on side effects. I did cut down/out carbs and excess sugars in the week before as prep. It's the end of day 3 and feeling really good. Just really want to have my first weigh in though so I can get that first flush of excitement that the weight is going! 7 days has never felt so long. I know it will seem like its flown by when I look back though.

How is everyone else feeling?
 
No doubt you can do it, especially on ss+!

I know what you mean, I just want this week over too, I feel like if I get through this week it'll fly by after. I have to stop the dreaded thoughts of how it could be weeks that I'm drinking shakes for.
 
Really struggling today. I have REALLY gone off the soups and can't stomach them so I've been having 2 shakes a day but because I'm at my parents I've now run low. Got 1 shake left, 1 porridge and 3 soups and go back to London tomorrow. Im having a small amount of chicken and lettuce for lunch instead of a soup which I know isn't good but yesterday I was too hungry with just skipping it. I'm hoping I've made the right decision. Will I ruin my weight loss? Had protein to stay in ketosis.
 
The soups are terrible, aren't they? There's just something about them that makes me feel sick, I'm having to swap mine. I don't think you'll have ruined your hard work, it's not like you grabbed for the bread, chicken and lettuce is allowed on ss+ so you're within diet allowances, with only two shakes a day though you might be lacking in nutrients, but I wouldn't have thought you'd gain any losses. Can you go back to your consultant and change some soups for shakes?
 
I'm going to see her on Wednesday but she posted some to me so I'll have them when I go home tomorrow. I planned on having some chicken breast and salad followed by a shake for dinner - do you think I should just have the shake? I'm on SS+ so I can have chicken but having is twice is probably a bit naughty. Not sure I'll get through the day without it though. Def going to swap all my soups! I just feel like a cheat but I really cant face the soups- tried yesterday and I was gagging!

It's your day 7 today!! Weigh in time! I'm day 6 but not weighing in until Wednesday evening so hopefully I'll have a good loss. Really want 5lb for my first week.

How you finding it?
 
I'd probably just have the 2 sachets and chicken and veg but a slightly bigger portion, then you'll probably be on similar calories as you would with your 3rd shake. But then having it twice isn't much different, so don't feel naughty, you'll still do really well!
It is! I'm trying to hold back drinking all my water and having too many shakes as don't want that to add lbs for wi, so I'm a little hungry! 2 hours to go! Can't believe it'll be my 2nd week soon, it's finally come, haha!
 
Oh its so exciting! You're going to do so well I'm sure. Is this the first time you've done Cambridge? I've never done a diet like this before.

Yeah I usually have 1 meal and 3 camb products on SS+ so think I'll have 2 packets and 2 smaller portions or chicken and salad that equal just a little more than the normal size then back to normal tomorrow.

Can't wait for my weigh in but it's not until weds! You're starting week 2 tomorrow! Amazing that's going to go so quickly. Have you got a rough length of time on mind that you're going to do it for? Are you on SS or SS+?
 
It's the 2nd time I've properly done it, I didn't do maintenance last time round and gradually got into bad eating habits.
How are you finding it then first time round?

Hoping to be on it till august, well not hoping, but think it'll take that long! Sigh!

I'm on ss+. Think I'd go insane if I wasn't, I don't eat the meal for hunger its usually just to give myself some normality!
 
Yeah I agree I'd go mad if I couldn't have any food at all. And if you have chicken and salad it quite a good size meal I think. Well, first time round (and hopefully only time) in finding it ok. Struggled this weekend as was low of choices of cb products and as I told you before I can't cope with the soups. The porridges are starting to have the same effect now too! I usually only eat fresh foods so I think all the artificial flavouring is unnatural to me and not enjoyable!

Just readying through my book and you can only do sole source if you're a stone or more away from bmi 25? I'm 12.2 now and 10.1 is BMI 25 so does that mean I can only do SS+ for the first stone and 1lb? Bit worried that the other 2 stone I want to lose with take me FOREVER if I'm on higher steps!
 
I think I feel the same about the tastes, it must be the artificialness of it all that I hate. I went off the porridges massively last time because I sickened myself of them, now I make them exactly as the packet says with the right amount of water and add a bit of my own cinnamon, much prefer it.

I'm not sure, but you might still be able to do ss+ just not ss. Maybe ask your cdc on wed?

How did you get on today?
 
Been ok today. Travelled back home from my parents do been busy doing laundry and cleaning etc. had chicken salad for dinner, two shakes and a porridge today. First weigh in on weds evening which will be day 9 - praying for a loss like yours! My flatmate made a salmon stir fry with loads of veggies for dinner and I was drooling over all the fresh veg.

How you getting on? Can you see your inch/weight loss in your clothes? Bet everything is looser! x

Oh man, I bet! You could make your own stir-fry! Cabbage, broccoli, green peppers and courgettes could make an alright mix of veg in a cd stir-fry I suppose!

I live in leggings so I'm afraid they'll probably just shrink with my loss, haha. I haven't noticed it in my clothes as of yet but I do feel slimmed, l feel like the top half of me is getting back to it's petite self, which is weird because only lost 1cm on my waist, but 4cm on boobs/back, so maybe that's it!
