Slim-Fast and the loo....

OK, this may well be too much information, but I have emailed SF twice in the last week and have been greeted by utter silence in return so I thought I might ask here.

I am on day 10 of SF and am doing very well apart from the fact that I don't seem to "go" much any more - still every day, but not much volume - and when I do I feel very bunged up.

Is this normal on SF, or could it just be the change over from SW where I ate massive quantities of fruit and veg and therefore had a lot more bulk going through my system? I still eat a fair bit of fruit and veg, but you can't have tons without going over calories................

Any ideas????

Quite possible the lack of ruffage is bunging you up. Try benefiber to help you go. Dissolve some in water and it increases your fibre intake.

You've also got to remember that you're eating less bulk for your cals with SF.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

I am drinking around half a pint of prune juice daily just now to see if that helps as I really don't want to resort to taking anything pharmaceutical :(

I have a feeling this probably lack of bulk more than anything else

Ho-hum..... it won't put me off - I am pleased with the results so far :) especially after the disasterous few months I had on SW.... I was beginning to wonder what was wrong with me :(

make sure your drinking loads of water, i always get a little blocked up if i've not drunk enough water.

I have 2+ litres most days - water / diet pop / fruit juice / tea - but I have cut back on my tea intake and upped the others recently in an attempt to curb my caffiene dependence too. However, I will up it a bit more and see if that helps.

Thank you for your advice :D

Before I have my morning shake I try and have a hot drink.... Normally green tea (as like you I try and limit my caffeine intake)..... I find that that helps get things 'moving'!!!

Also I find that the meal bars tend to block me up a little more than the shakes so I only have them occasionally!

I haven't tried the bars yet - my appetite is too big to be satisfied by a wee cereal bar!!

I have however tried the snack bars and they seem to slow things down too, so I don't have them any more and try to have fruit or veg and dips for snacks now.

Cheers, A :)

Just had a "tell me something I don't already know" reply back from Slim Fast.

Basically their "expert" said:

  • eat more fibre - yep, already doing that;
  • do more exercise - yep, already doing that and
  • drink more - yep, already doing that too!
I think I am just going to have to stick with it and hope it resolves itself or resort to Lactulose (and that will be a LAST resort!).

Thanks ladies - advice appreciated!
