Sorry if this is a daft question, but I just made SW quiche with eggs and cottage cheese.

I wondered if the cottage cheese has to be used as an A choice?

No, not if it's the syn-free cot. cheese!

Low fat cot. cheese is half a syn per 100g
You need VERY low fat cot. cheese for it to be syn free!

Just curious as to why virtually fat free skimmed milk isn't free?

Because its a drink and you can stick much more of it down your neck before getting full, unlike fromage frais/cottage cheese/quark. I think thats the logic anyway!
