Smocked Mackerel with Peppercorns

Why is Smoked Mackerel syns amd why is the peppercorns syns too ?Confused

I don't know, I can't think of any reason why it should be as there's nothing it in but mackerel!

Is it because it's an oily fish and therefore high in calories?

But fresh mackerel isn't synned, and the oil content would not be changed by the smoking process. It is one of the great SW mysteries I have never been able to get an answer to!!

And do forgive me for laughing - but your thread title had me in fits! I keep imagining a mackerel wearing a little smock!
