Persistence not perfection
Sorry if this has been posted before, but am I right in thinking that a subway salad would be perfect for S&S?

A chicken salad with lettuce, cucumber, green pepper, olives, gherkins - no sauce or cheese obviously - that would be okay right?

Hi, I've had one before, as long as you stick to the allowed veg and no dressing I don't see why it wouldn't be 'on plan' :) the portion is quite big though so I left about a 1/4 as thought it would take me over the 200g veg but can't say for certain. I avoided the olives as they can be high in cals :) It was really yummy :)

Yeah that's what I was thinking, the actual portion of chicken isn't massive though is it I think that would be 100g or less.

It's not something I'd do everyday just would be good to have the option!

You can have olives on SnS though, you can eat 200g a day of them if you like as long as they are in brine and not oil.

Be careful of the chicken! it's processed. its pumped full of sugar and salt.

There is a turkey option too, this could possibly be processed I'm really not sure and wasn't aware about the chicken so thanks for sharing that. As the op said if it's just an occasional thing then it's not gonna cos great harm :)

Oh no!!! Thanks for letting me know, plain salad it is for me then lol. I might bring a little click-lock pot of cottage cheese with me is that really sad!?

No thats not sad it's sensible, you could make your own chicken salad and take it in tupperware. As a rule i never touch anything thats manmade, ie processed meats, it has hidden nastiness that you dont need.

Just had a look at the website (can you tell I want a subway now haha!) and got this nutritional info

*Reformed meat. †Formed meat. ^Made with shaved steak strips.

Looks like the turkey, ham and steak is formed/reformed whatever but the chicken is okay? Or is it preservatives etc that cause the problem?

Either way only 6/7g carbs for most of the salads (obviously stay away from the chicken teriyaki!) and then - whatever the tomatoes would be as I wouldn't have them.

I do try my best to make my own and the packs are great especially the shakes can be made up anywhere with a shaker and a bottle of water! But working 60+ hours a week sometimes I'm not quite as prepared as I should be :(

I had a MacDonalds grilled chicken salad the other day when we were out for longer than expected - no dressing. Had a couple cherry tomatoes in but only a couple so fished them out.

Hmmm that sounds a bit weird...

If I'm on the go I sometimes grab some roast chicken from marks if its emergency!

Deffo steer clear of olives and processed meats... Carbs and the sodium.. :-0

I rather pop in somewhere n get a grilled chicken breast. Done that in pubs and restaurants before no problem

Xx
