Syn Free Chicken in white sauce

So having read on here about Tesco Light Choices tinned chicken in white sauce is free, but having already done my weekly shop in Asda (whose version is not free), I've decided to try to make my own.
I've found this recipe for the white sauce:

  • Chopped Onions
  • Sliced mushrooms
  • mixed herbs
  • chopped garlic clove
  • ½ pint Water
Fat Free fromage frais or Quark

Method:
1.Put onion, sliced mushrooms, herbs and garlic in a pan with the water. Bring to boil and let it simmer for a while until it is all redued and caramelised.
2. Let it cool for a bit and then stir in the Fromage Frais or Quark.
3. Add chicken and stir.
Make sure chicken is cool before adding, so the Fromage Frais/Quark does not curdle, when mixing in the sauce.

Tip: Can be used as a standard white sauce for, e.g. beef stroganoff, pies, lasagne.

I haven't actually made it yet, but if anyone has tried it, will a chicken stock cube or even just half a stock cube make this a bit tastier?

Thanks

I use a very similar recipe. Same ingredients but I fry them then add chicken stock and a little mustard before removing from the heat and adding the quark. I use it as a sauce for steak, chicken and pasta. Really tasty and free.

Any ideas how I reheat it? Going to make it this morning ready for later! Scared that reheating will cause FF to curdle

Hi, I have been trying to find this chicken in white sauce at Tescos but no luck at all. Goodness knows why they stopped making it.
