Tinned Food for Camping

I know this has been asked a few times, but I think everyone on here shops at Asda lol

Does anyone know of any free or low syn tinned meals for Green/EE/Red? i.e. tinned curries, chillies, meat stews etc.

Unfortunatly I don't drive so my shop selection is quite limited. Would need to be from Tesco, M&S, Lidl or Co-op (not Asda!!)

I'm going camping in a couple of weeks so have already stocked up on pasta & sauces, mugshots and savoury rice, but would love some easy tasty tinned foods too...

Hi Sarah,

Tins of tesco vegetable ravioli are free on green, and heinz ravioli 3 syns a tin.
Tinned sweetcorn also adds a fresh-tasting element to all the BBQ and dehydrated food I tend to eat when camping...

I'll have a think...

Aren't the beef in gravy from Tesco's free? Sounded gorgeous when someon else mentioned them, would be nice with tinned peas or tinned new potatoes? Might be worth a search for it on lifelineonline xx

Asda beef madras tinned curry is 2.5 syns a tin!!!!!
Asda chickpea dahl tin -free on green and extra easy !!!

Tins of chunky steak from M+s are free on red and EE, Chick pea Dahl from Asda is free also on EE and green.Happy Camping!

Aaagh again Asda seems to come up trumps!! (damn having no car it's just not fair lol)
I've tried the Tesco stewing steak but did find it quite bland, might try the M&S chunky steak if it's free and we'll have plenty of tinned peas/carrots/newpots etc to go with.

Going camping with my Dad and I think all this 'special' food is really going to wind him up. Can see him and my hubby munching on tinned hot-dogs on white rolls while I tuck into yet another pasta and sauce!

On the plus side we'll definately have at least one BBQ so that's nice and easy at least.

try not to let your family get you down, sometimes they just dont understand unfortunately my parents are starting to come round to the fact that this isnt just some silly "fad" and that i am actually getting results! as long as you're paying for your "special food" and cooking it yourself, there's no logical reason your dad should get wound up, and if he does, it might be worth trying to come to a bit of a compromise even if its just for the sake of keeping the peace have a lovely time i hope the weather stays nice for you!! xx

Thanks hun, I'm really looking forward to it. I only see my dad a few times a year because we live so far apart, he was pretty good last time I saw him but that was when I had a house to cook in and shops to buy SW food in - something I'm not going to have this time as it's a VW Camper festival we're going to - so definately need to prepare ahead.
Still should be great fun. Roll on 16th July!!

Oh wow, have you got a VW camper??

I went to the big Bus Stopover (I think it was called) last year and drooled over the campers - I would looooove a camper van. Maybe one day
Had a great time anyway despite only having a tent *sob* and they had good entertainment on and beer tent - sorted

I don't but my Dad has 3!
So we'll go in one and me and hubby will sleep in the giant awning.
Will be awesome seeing all the vans - been to Vanfest in Malvern last couple of years and that was really cool.

It's the camping that I struggle with, would much rather an on-site hotel!!

I had the tesco stewed steak this week but jazzed it up a bit with some tinned button mushrooms paprika and a smidgen of chilli always adding free flavourings to stuff thats a bit bland

Thanks Deb for the tinned steak idea, will get some mushrooms in too.

As long as I've got lots of free/low syn options I've got no excuse to eat naughty food!!
