I know this has been asked before but still confused.

I love the new Trident Splash sugarfree strawberry lime chewing gum. The ingredients show sweeteners (Malitol, Sorbitol, Malitol syryp, Aspartame, Acesulfame K.) This does not sound good.

I don't want to admit to how much I have been chewing a day!:sigh:

Dukan does say you can have sugar free gum *however* (this is where I dare to disagree with the good doctor) most of the commercial ones that say they are sugar free (Extra, Wrigleys, Trident) are actually quite calorific. To avoid the calories, try Holland and Barrett - they have a good, very low calorie chewing gum in there at the moment (althoguh quite expensive). Alternatively, if you could have mints instead, I'd recommend the sugar free mints from Holland and Barrett in the silver tube, or simply Smints (the ones in the small box).

Sugar free sweets and mints are capped at six per day (if my memory serves me well). You'll be glad of that cap because they tend to cause errrr "unfortunate" odours ;)

Slimdreamer, I have posted this before but I survived on my suger free gums ( the ones you are having were part of my assortment of chewing gum and I love them too;) ).

Some one on here told us we should restrict them to 5 a day and I did that ( I got quite a lot of wind and laxative like reaction when I chewed them but that went away eventually )

The bottom line was it did not stalled me. We are all different so pay attention to what it does to your body. You might see that like me, it helps you with the lack of sugar in the diet and keeps you going:)

Thank you. I definitely have way more than five or six a day! I have really been trying to cut down on the dairy so they have really helped me with the sweet cravings.

Chances are they are slowing down my loss.:( StefRose, I will have a look in Holland and Barrett, they do sound better than my beloved Trident Splash.:) Thank you again for the replies.

one packet of wrigley's extra is 21 calories - you call 21 calories calorific??? lol!
