I got all my skinny clothes out, washed & put away... I have a wide range from 22/24 down to 14's. Told OH if I get smaller than a 14 its gonna cost!!!

Yes I've heard that Cheryl.. it'll be down to GP's & their practices!

Alot of people have been getting worried b'coz of all the bad press recently (since the nhs published their figures) about how wls surgery is unnecessary & that we are all lazy weak willed, lay abouts, who sponge on benefits & sit on our backsides all day eating junk food!! Of course every fat person who goes for wls is exactly like that!!

On a few forums there have been some really nasty comments that we are also taking away vital cancer drugs from those that are dying.... its a double edged sword really & I do believe that 'fattism' is the last allowed prejudice as people would not get away with saying those type of comments about anything else!

its definately made me not want to tell anyone what I'm having done... even tho the cost of mine will be outweighed in just 3 years if I come off my medication I've put up with enough fattism comments over the years that I don't need to give anyone anymore ammunition!!

Sorry... don't know where that came from, guess we've just been digesting it over on wls & its in the forefront of my mind. xx

Totally agree with you Linz, the cost to the NHS because of obesity, diabetes, statins & blood pressure tablets is huge!
Both Steve's parents & my mum died long slow painful deaths from various conditions due to diabetes.
You are taking your future by the horns & changing it for the best. Right behind you girl!! xx

Stop right there mrs. Ok so they might all be judgemental and sterotypical, god knows we are all guilty of it sometimes but these people cant see beyond "taking money from us". I do agree that some fat people shouldnt be allowed wl surgery if they keep eating, in the same way i think alcoholics shouldnt be given a liver transplant if they keep drinking. These operations should ONLY be there for people that can prove they are worthy of that money being spent on them. In a way they need to prove they have done everything they can to change their lives be it lose weight themselves, a change of diet or being drink free for 5yrs. The NHS would not have enough money to pay for cancer drugs for everyone the same as they cant fund ivf for them all. I do believe that every case is looked at properly and ever factor taken into consideration.
Hun we all know you have worked bloody hard and that you wont go eating all the flippin cream cakes in the shop (you'd better not, coz i want one!). You have never been one of these over weight people that sits and eats all day then moans they cant lose weight and eats more so they get so fat they claim benefits as they are too fat and too lazy to go to work. Believe me ive seen it. The 47st man who needed a special truck to take him to hospital as a normal ambulance couldnt get him through the doors. You are not one of these people. Please dont listen to the small minded no-bodies that want to make judgement and comment without truly thinking about what they have said. Send them to me and i'll give them a piece of my mind. People can be so nasty. Its no different from kids at school. They dont see the whole picture. You were so up beat earlier hun, please dont let this get you down. You should not have to justify the cost to yourself only that you have worked hard and deserve this for a better way of life for not only you but your kids too.

Its actually very cheap as small as a few pence per item as they are so common the bulk buying is so low. Its the not treating it that things become expensive and this is my arguement. Leave a diabetic and what happens???? Surely it is more cost effective to deal with it now so the complications dont become that bad. Blood NHS, who'd work for them anyway!!!
