I started a diary here back in October when I originally began the Cambridge Diet, unfortunately CD really didn't agree with me. I just couldn't get on with the products, and when I came down with shingles the week before starting work again I thought my plans for loosing the weight would have to end there.
However there was a silver lining to having shingles....the (really very powerful) painkillers I was on removed my appetite completely!! I found that I would eat 3 times a day, but only because I knew I was ill & had to eat. There was no pleasure in eating at all. So even though I was eating 'normal' food I wasn't eating very much & the weight started to gradually drop off.
When I realised this was happening I decided to take advantage of the situation & started a Low Carb & Low Cal diet of my own devising, mainly focusing on protein rich foods, dairy, fruit & veg. The weight just fell off me!! Without the constant hunger (which has been driving me crazy for years) I was finally able to steadily loose a sizeable chunk of weight. Dropping from 18st12 in October 2011 to 14st7 by Feb 2012!!!
Then life happened. :sigh: I hadn't been on the appetite suppressing painkillers since November & with my partners birthday & other life stuff I just kinda fell on & off the wagon for the next few months. I did manage to get down to 13st3 (my lowest weight in 10 years!!), but kept bouncing back up again as I just wasn't really sticking to it.
When I stepped back on the scales last Saturday I realised I had gone from my lowest weight of 13st3 all the way back up to 14st12
. To say I was horrified would be an understatement!! I was nearly 15st again!! All my hard work, everything I had worked towards was vanishing.
This particular moment has crystallised in my mind. A moment of absolute clarity, where I realised exactly what I wanted. My own personal epiphany. I instantly started my diet again & in my first week I have lost 11lbs!!!

This will be my diary of the second stage of my diet.
