A diary of a slimming world consultant

I'm just about to set off for my night in group, i take over next week. I'm getting really anxious about starting. I'm doing the interest table able raffle tonight and that's got me in a tizz! How will I be next week, i seem to be spending money after money just need to see some return for all my efforts. Its hard going.

Hello iv read the whole thread iv only been a member for 23 weeks lost 3 stone 10lbs so last night team developer was in asking if people are interested in becoming a consultant she pulled me back after group and wants to take over 3 groups in january i do want to i know its hard work is it worth it. I bascially live sw at the moment i want to inspire others
i have a ops day in november i guess i worry as i havent been going long and im only 23 i know the plan works

I'm taking on my second group as cover from this Monday I really hope to do it well enough that they offer it to me I then want both of them to go double session :)

Good luck caretaker!

I'm loving it alright ;) but am a bit concerned that SW are recruiting new consultants really quickly! And lots of them! The only problem is, if they get all these new consultants onboard when they get upset or realise they were pushed into to it too quickly they leave, :( then guess who has to cover them? Yep, us! Hmmmm

Glad it has taken me nearly 2 years to come to this point in my life where being a consultant will fit with my little family - my main priority! At least I will be able to concentrate on Sw and my members when I relaunch the group in January.

I guess covering other groups is the same as in every job in some respects - I will help as much as I can.

There's a big difference between covering a group for holidays when you get guaranteed earnings and covering a group with no consultant. You can end up going out for nothing.
I agree with caretaker, they are selected and trained very quickly. I can't believe the turnover I've seen is far, I would love to know the amount who last more than a year and I would guess its less than 50%.

Woah thats a pretty bad turnover! I guess thats 50% of people losing their deposits etc then?

I'm still considering doing it, although the groups on offer at the min don't really suit. Will wait and see if anything more local/better comes up :)

That's my estimation and from my experience, about right! Yes, you lose the lot. You buy your franchise for each group so lose that. You can sell on your kit and recoup a bit.
Mall I would say to anyone considering it is be certain. It's not easy and, whilst done don't mind bit making much money, it's a business and why should we go out for a few pounds?
Im lucky, my group is growing well and u earn enough to justify a night out and support in the week.

That's my reading done and the 3 diplomas completed ready for training on Friday and Saturday. Anyone else going to be there that reads this??? Xxx

Training eve ...... Anyone else going to be there??? X

Wow I've finally finished reading the whole of this thread and it's been look a good book you can't put down! Every spare minute I've had I've been reading this and I'm so glad I came across it.

I'm just a member of a group and my consultant mentioned about the opps event but not specifically to me so I thought I'd do some research and see what I could find. I have previously thought about being a consultant as I've been with slimming world on and off for about 5 years now, think I've been a member of every group in the area!

I only work 2 days a week in my day job but I also work in party plan so I know about building a business and getting customers so that part of the job doesn't bother me. What I do like about the idea of being a consultant is that you'll be working a set day and time whereas in my party plan business I don't know one week from the next and have to organise babysitters all the time as my husband works away 2/3 months at a time. I'm finding this difficult but I do earn decent money from it so in 2 minds what to do. My day job will always be there as it's my security and I know if I need to go back full time I can.

Were hoping for another baby soon so being a consultant wouldn't be in my plan just yet so maybe January 2015. I did mention this to my husband and he said will it cost money and I said yes so he said no!! But I shall mention it again next year!

so really I just want someone to tell me whether they think it would be suitable for my circumstances? All the promoting etc I can do in the daytime and I can do online promoting on a night time, the Sunday thing is no problem as my husband is away a lot, so apart from that is it just the class in an evening to do? How often is the training once you get through or can you pick and choose when you want to do it?

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences you'd never know all this happens otherwise.

Just thought I would let you all know how I got on on my first night. Well apart from not eating all day, crying on and off all day, not knowing what I was doing. All my hard work paid off, as in total I had 32 new members so I have fast tracked and taken my group from a Y up to a C group. So I'm really pleased, the only thing is is that I have to do it all again next week. But still don't know what I'm doing!
