About to start Cambridge!!

Hi everyone, after months of putting it off, I am finally taking the plunge and starting the Cambridge diet. I rang a local consultant on Fri and am meeting her tomorrow. I know it will be a battle to reach my goal, but it's now or never. For the last 12 months I have been going through a very stressful divorce from my husband, and I turned to my old friend when I was stressed.....Food!! Yes, food and I have had a wonderful relationship, so much so I have put almost a stone on in less than a year. I am 5'7" and am 17st 4. I have battled with my weight for years and gradually my dress sizes have increased, so much so, that I am now starting to look at elasticated waists longingly, which is not good!!

My mum and dad are worried for my long term health and are reluctantly supporting me on my Cambridge journey. My mum reckons I should just cut down what I eat and diet normally. However, my mum isn't wired up like me and her only being a size 10/12 and never having a weight issue does not understand what it's like when you use food as a comfort. Anyway, here goes, would love to have a diet buddy so we can share our ups and downs etc. Good luck to everyone either already on Cambridge or like me, about to take the plunge.

It will change your life! Providing you dig out that willpower and wear it at all times!
I started my journey at 15st and I currently weigh around 13st 2lb. I have given myself til the end of August to get to my target of 9st 5lb (which is ideal for my height). And works on an average loss of 3lb a week.

The first week is really tough but so rewarding when you see a figure emerging!

I still have a long way to go but with Cambridge I know I can finally do it! So you can too!

Well done for taking the first step. Look forward to following your journey :)

Good luck! Xx

Hi Shorty, thanks for your reply. I am on SS, was not too impressed with my Consultant. She didn't explain stuff too well. However, she has been doing cambridge for about 25 years so I hope she knows what she's talking about. Have chosen 2 porridge and a shake each day.

My first consultant didn't explain things properly either and I gave in after 5 days!
6 months later I found a new consultant and suddenly the diet and how it works and what's available to me was so clear because she was so thorough and genuinely seemed interested in me and my goals.

Unlike the first consultant she will phone email or text me at regular intervals to check how I'm doing and to see if I need anything and she seems almost as chuffed as me when I lose weight each week. I have a lot to thank her for and already I'm very fond of her because her support and guidance is helping to change my life.

Have you found any flavours you really like/dislike? I haven't really come across anything I really really don't like yet but I am crazy about the banana bliss tetras. They are my favourite :-D

What day are you on now? Writing a diary helps doesn't it? X

Hi Shorty

I am on day 6 now and have already lost 11lbs :)

However, have decided to stop doing the diet. I almost fainted at work this week which really frightened me. I am on SS but in all the literature about it, it says not to do much exercise. Unfortunately, I have 2 jobs and am on my feet for most of the day so I don't think that helped. When I spoke to my consultant she seemed to think I'd not been drinking enough which couldn't be further from the truth as I been measuring 5 pints a day and drinking every drop.

Anyway, after tomorrow I am doing my own diet, have bought loads of weight watchers meals and am really going to beat this weight I have. I think being on cambridge for a week has made me think about food differently, and hopefully my stomach has shrunk enough for me to feel sustained after smaller meals. I really miss the act of 'chewing' so am looking forward to eating some proper healthy food.

Hope your still doing OK and losing your weight, I will still be posting even though I am not doing cambridge anymore so we can share our successes.

Take care xx

Oh I'm sorry to hear that! I only work two days a week and find that on the 2 days I work I feel a lot less vibrant! So I totally understand. It's your body's way of telling you there's more needing to go out than whats being put in!

11lb already was a fantastic start though, use that to spur you on and continue losing the weight. I buy the bars from Cambridge now and iv enjoyed sitting down to chew one lol. Simple things!

I actually came off the diet for 3 days, still managed to lose 2lb though but back on it and going to try harder as I have 10 days until I see my CDC again so an hoping iv shifted another half a stone by then!

Keep up the good work, let me know how you get on doing WW. Xxx

Hello there, I'm on day 2 of CD so I would love to tag along on your journey if that's ok :)
xx

I read a fantastic book called The Gabriel Method that really made me think about my choices of foods. I intend up try the cd from tomorrow just to shift a stone over the next few wks, as I can't get moving with weight watchers again. Problem I found with weight watchers, buying the products at least, is they are packed with additives, sweetners etc which can assist with weight loss but aren't great for the body, and often leave you wanting more. Don't get sucked into buying all their products, good luck!!'
