You'd be surprised Emsie! I'm taking my sister and mum to York for a 3 night break in April and to rent an apartment was 1/2 the price of staying in a hotel!

The compromise is often location (just check how close to everything you are) plus the obvious, no room service or breakfast included- but to be honest the type of city centre hotels that include these things are so expensive I don't stay in them anyway!

Yeah and am thinking about the friends that might be coming and although its a special occasion for me and I'd like them to come I don't want to cost them loads and with food its important to me lol but not everyone is fussed about breakfast etc so if in an apartment we can do our own thing and if I wish to then I could also get healthier food!

I live in Newcastle so I've the DFDS cruise to Amsterdam a couple of times, like someone said the cabins are basic but have everything you need and the ferry is fab for the price (often £99 return for 2 people) we always stay over a couple of days too. It's a great place for general walking and sightseeing but deffo book ahead for Anne Franks house, queues on the day are always mad x Sent from my iPhone using MiniMins

Am hoping to book this next week! Whoop! Got it down to a couple of possible places to stay I think! A boat or an apartment! Me and sis are getting excited about staying on a boat...or in the apartment as there are hammocks!! You don't HAVE to sleep in the hammock lol there are beds but the thought of me and her trying to get in them wrecked...OMG!

Oh how exciting, what plus points does the boat have? If you really can't decided I'd look at location, does either have wifi etc.
