Well, I`ve been a silly billy!! This happened yesterday morning. I was going for my regular walk in a nearby park. To get there, I have to cross a busy road. Normally I used the pedestrian crossing, but stupidly, I decided to dodge round the cars. It was early and there was a queue of traffic to get into town. I got past the cars on my side of the road and was checking traffic going the other way. I saw there was nothing and went to step out. Unknown to me there was a cyclist bypassing the stationary traffic and he went into me,knocking me over!! Admittedly, he should have been on the kerbside and I should have used the crossing properly. So it was six of one and half a dozen of the other. I sort of went over like a sack of spuds onto my left side. Luckily, I didn`t hit my head!! The cyclist stopped to assist me and also another cyclist, who happened to be an off duty doctor from the local hospital. I could barely move but having helped me off the ground, the doctor called an ambulance to get me x-rayed, just in case. Of course, I spent hours at the hospital. There`s no broken bones which is a good thing. Just badly bruised on my backside and down my left leg. Movement is still an issue and I`m having to use hubby`s spare walking stick, I`m finding it very frustrating. Getting into bed last night was a bit of a pantomime!! As is using the toilet. At leas t we have a bed rail and a toilet frame I can use.I just need to be very careful how I move. If I get it wrong, it sort of catches if you see what I mean!! The good thing about where we live is that`s it`s ground floor and we have pull cords in every room for emergencies. Our neighbours have been very kind, offering to do our shopping, take me to the doctor`s etc. I feel a bit of an idiot as I should have looked where I was going, so it`s all my own fault. Can`t sit on the sofa at the moment as it`s too low down for me to get up again. So I`m using a wooden chair that we use to eat at the table. All in all, I`m feeling very sorry for myself. I suppose I got off lightly, if it had been a car it would have been a lot worse
