Haha! Love the the avatar! I'm having my gels redone on my feet by one my therapists.
My mum didn't choose it, she lived in the Soviet Union! Disposable nappies - they either didn't exist at the time or they were way too expensive for the normal every-day person.
As for hygene - they were boiled for an hour, so they'd be as hygenic as anything else that was exposed to the air. No one I know suffered ill effects, so can't complain ... probably the only problem would be a rash developing much more easily as it wasn't as flexible as the modern counterpart.
Pff! I didn't even realise such a service existed nowdays!! Both methods are probably equally as destructive, depends on how biodegradable nappies are to be honest. Water wasteage/labour/fuel needed to pick them all up vs. nappies in a landfill. The poop will be there regardless...
Your feet are unique, I was a little bit in awe of your long second toe! It's amazing!! Feet are funny things, aren't they?
