No news on Mum yet. She can't get to the Dr's tomorrow either, so we'll have to wait for results till next week now
Hmmm yesterdays walk wasn't exactly fun. Pinta was the worst I have seen her and it was such hard work. It's really embarrassing having such a badly behaved dog too. You want to try and explain to everyone what the situation is!! I know people probably don't really care. I mean, I'm not actually letting her anywhere near people's dogs, so no one is at risk. I don't even know if it's aggression. It doesn't seem like it, but I'm certainly not going to test that!!
Anyway, my friend told me about this doggy place near us called the Dog Barn. One of the things they do are obedience and socialisation classes. So I've emailed them and explained the situation and they've said I can go to classes when they re-start in the new year. I've read the feedback/testimonials and a couple are about dogs who have the same issues as Pinta. So I feel a bit better. Worried because the classes are held outside in the open and, you know, it will be bloody cold in January! I've asked Mum and Michelle if they can come with me (either/or) whenever they can. It helps having a dog trained with a few people involved, so they don't just rely on one person. I'll be the main person, obviously, but it really does help having more people involved.
Hopefully that it is just a case of her not having any social skills and being anxious about everything.
I just took the dogs for a quick 10min walk round the block each. Went out about 10:30 so it was dark, cold, and raining, yet still saw two other dog walkers. We are a crazy bunch
Pinta saw one dog and did bark, but just a few times, and also came to me when I asked and walked to heel.
I've been teaching her "heel" for a few days at home. I wanted something she could "do" when she barked at something or saw another dog. The hand signal is a flat hand against my leg and she walks along side me with her nose on my hand. We've only gotten the right side done so far, but I'll teach her left when that is a definitely learnt. I want her to be able to come to either side of me. I also needed something that wouldn't mean us standing still. A lot of people distract their dogs with a sit or a down, but if she did that everytime she saw a dog we'd never get anywhere
So pleased it is starting to work! Just means I have to have a pocket or pouch full of treats lol. It's a start!
Yesterdays food didn't end up being too bad really. I got a very small selection of pick and mix at the cinema and for tea we went to a new, little Mexican place. I got a bbq halloumi burrito, filled with rice and veg and loveliness
And a side of spicy chips, which we shared. And when we got home I caught up on my advent calendar
Today's meals has been spot on SW, but I've had a lot of Galaxy Caramel
