Chelsea's last stone off by Christmas mission!!

Chels, my memory has never been the same since l was pregnant with my son in 2003. Midwife, then health visitor said it would get better, well over the last 7 years it's got worse. Once l even left the food shopping outside the front door at home for hours, when l put it down to get my keys out. Bad aint it! lol. :8855:

My Gran is 96 with advanced dementia, my other Gran had it too, maybe l'm starting to get it really, really early. Scarey thought. Funnily enough l'm still good at working with figures & have a good memory for things like that, just as well working for an accountants.

Tomorrow l'm going to an opticians for an eye test.

My long-term memory is ok and I keep hoping that recent stuff I have forgotten, like what someone said to me two minutes ago, will become a long-term memory that I will be able to remember hahaha. If that makes sense. I, like you, started noticing it after childbirth. Maybe its hormones, as it has got worse through the menopause or maybe it is because we have other things to think about (children) and also we are bombarded with so much information now almost 24/7. Our brains have to process a lot. Also, with me, if I am not 100% interested in something/someone then my brain seems to filter it out, so as you need to remember figures for your job, which you are obviously interested in, your brain knows that it needs to remember it all?

I can well understand your worries regarding dementia in the family. There is an online test for early dementia that has recently become available but I am too darn scared to do it - not that I can remember the web address lol - if it was to tell me that I was early-stage alzheimers or something I would probably go and slit my throat :D
Tomorrow l'm going to an opticians for an eye test.
Good luck for the eye test xx

Me, I have "Sometimers" 'cause sometimes I remember and sometimes I don't. I think that if I was actually giving something my full attention I'll remeber it... but like most women I am often multi-tasking and then some things do not get taken onboard.

Hahaha, old fogies day trips will be the highlight of our week pretty darn soon. :8855:

And mine's on Monday, with the old man! :D

Blimmin' heck Dis......things shouldn't be packing up at your tender age ;) My memory is dreadful. I have copious amounts of post-its in my glasses case to remind me of things I have to do/places I have to be at etc. Eyesight is awful, like someone has turned down the dimmer switch and now you come to mention it, I do have the telly up rather loud these days :D I keep telling myself it is because of the traffic noise when the windows are open but maybe not................ :D

Hope your day is a good one xx

:8855:

I went to the dentist a couple of weeks ago for the first time in 8 years  A check-up revealed no fillings needed, just a scale and polish, which was fair enough. I had scale and polish last Saturday :D Anyway, when I'd had the initial check I enquired as to whether anything could be done about the gap I have towards the back, upper. I didn't have an adult tooth growing behind the milk tooth so have had this gap all my adult life and very self-conscious of it, especially when smiling. The dentist said he could crown the tooth behind and fit a bridge to fill the gap. In the past I have been told that it could only be done privately like this and for the cost of £1,000 upwards!!

This guy said he could do it on the NHS for £204. Bargain :D Today I had the first appointment, where he drilled away some of the tooth to be crowned, took an impression and put on a temporary metal crown. I now look like Jaws from the Bond movie :D:D I go back in 2 weeks to have the tooth and bridge finished off.

Here I am sitting here and not being able to eat anything because my 'bite' is so uneven. I am mildly peckish but no more and I'm staring at a tin of Heinz soup willing myself to fancy it..........not happening. In order to get something inside me I have just sucked on a small bag of Chocolate buttons - approx 10.5 syns - so SW wise good and if I was to be CC ing, very good.

So, the foolproof way to lose weight (eat your heart out Marissa, Atkins etc) is to get a dodgy, metal crown inserted into your oral cavity and job's a good 'un :D:D

The check-up and the clean and polish cost £17.00!!! The practice also offer botox  The receptionist has it periodically, she is 49 and truly hasn't a line on her face. For £180 I am seriously considering it. She looks totally 'unworried' but still has expression. Marvellous what you can get from the dentist these days :)

P.S. When the dentist says "You need a filling" does he actually mean that the lines on your face look like they could do with some drastic intervention or does he mean you have a tooth cavity???

Thursday 16th

Food so far today:-

One 4 fingered kit-kat because I still can't chew properly - plan on having soup for lunch. Pesky tooth

I think my memory's going, I'm sure I read this somewhere else a few minutes ago?.......:D

Nope, just a business trip and I sometimes tag along, but after the boring bit we go and play! A walk, or National Trusty place, a meal out, cake, :copon:, tea, sometimes stay away..... Just being on our own together, which is quite a novelty! :D

So lovely that you still feel that way about each other after all your years wed. I am feeling really envious, especially having read right through your diary up until January of this year and seeing what a wonderfully warm and loving family and home you have, animals and all. Made me go a bit gooey and I'm still pmsl at the image of you driving along with two sheep having a quickie in the back of your car and the expressions of the other motorists' faces............fantastic story Bess xxx :D

I'll need to dig out that sheep story - I'm sure I must have missed that back in 2009 - my memories isn't that great but that I would have remembered! :D

Now my memory's bad, but trust me, that's something I'll never forget! That and the ewe who gave birth next to a fence, the first lamb slipped out and slithered straight through the rails then the second followed it.......sheep are so stupid! What a place to chose to lamb.....mind you, I didn't realise I was in labour with my 4th  and barely made it through the hospital door from the ambulance..:eek::eek:

Recently I couldn't find my purse anywhere, searched through my handbag and found a pack of soft butter......and my purse was in the fridge.....

:D:D:D Funny, I didn't realise I was in labour with my first. I told DH to go back to bed after my water broke Hollywood style in the middle of the night. I rang the hospital and they asked if I had any contractions - I said that I didn't think so and they told me to wait until the morning. DH insisted we went and I apologised to the duty midwife for bothering them. 10 minutes later DS was born :D. I had my DD at home cause I was worried about her slipping out while watching Eastenders or something :D. No chance - she took several hours little drama queen that she is :p

Oooh, I'd have loved to have had mine at home, lucky you, mind you no. 4 nearly was. If I'd had the brains to stay at home it would have been much better. :)

My first 3 were silent labours, despite being induced with 1 & 3. I was on a drip for hours with DD1 and getting more bored by the minute. I called the nurse in some time after 4pm, just after hubby had left after visiting, as I needed the bed pan for a no 2s. She had a right go at me saying that I was nowhere near ready to push and I'm wondering what the hell she meant and why was she examining me under the sheets when I needed the toilet? She shouted to another midwife to "get this girl in the delivery room...NOW!!! Three pushes later, and she was born:eek: I'd felt absolutely nothing.

My son (God rest him) was a slight backache which suddenly shot round to the front and it was a blue light jobby in the ambulance.

DD2 was silent until the urge to push. DD3 - Jess- was hell on earth. Different husband meant it was like a 1st baby apparently. 12 hours of excrutiating pain and I wanted them to shoot me............she was worth it though :D x

Not Fair... my son was 33 plus hours of labour, he was face up and had to be turned... and I had stupidly chosend to go natural so no pain killers. I was about to be moved to be sectioned and the midwife did a last check and he'd apparently turned when I was stood up to be moved onto to stretcher for transport. So, back on the bed and then a lots more pushing. I broke every blood vessel in my face (and one in my eye -- gross), I looked like I had the measles.

Then, with DD I was brought into the hospital three weeks early (my doctor fudged my due date because she was estimated to be over 10 pounds at that point). They spent three days getting me effaced, dialated and inducing me -- before realising that she too was face up. They tried to turn her for an hour (and that was soooo painful -- and I had an epidural). I finally refused to push any more an demanded a C-section. The doctor tried to talk me into continuing and asked my husband to reason with me. My husband said, "Give her a c-section. I am not telling her otherwise... I have to live with her." So, I got a c-section. The doctor came in to see me in recovery and APOLOGISED. She said that my DD's chest would not have fit through my pelvic bone. That it was a good thing that I had refused to push.

@Jess --

I'll bet it was a comfort to know that you'd been forgiven. ;)

Not funny.....you were face up, we were spine to spine and you know I have a stress fracture :cry:They stuck a pessary up at 19:50 and at 20:00 I was in full labour. After 12 hours and 8 minutes of the worst pain imaginable out you popped. All bruised and blonde and gorgeous. My poor sis had a shocking bruise on her arm where I had gripped her so tight and dug my nails in :D She'd flown in from her honeymoon in Florida and came straight to the hospital, so poor thing was jeg-lagged and abused hahahahaha!!!

You are a lucky woman to have such a supportive sister.

Mel
She had no choice :D Actually both of my sisters were going to be my birthing partners, as my first husband went completely off me after seeing our babies being born and I didn't want to take that chance with husband No 2. At the last minute though I wanted him there and so my sisters had to leave the room as it was a bit overcrowded. So poor 'lil sis got all the bruises etc., and got to miss out on the best bit hahaha.

I returned the favour though, I was with her when she had her emergency c-section and watched baby being lifted out, took photos then watched the sewing up afterwards :D:D
