I usually do a roast on a Sunday then scurry away while it's being eaten. As its such a nice day thought I'd roast the chook and do a salad... I have been having 4 packs a day so far but thought I might join everyone today... Is it only breast I can eat? Also does anyone use any form of dressing on salad? Sorry if this has been asked before... :)

Yes, just the breast, no skin, and I usually have the lowest calorie, lowest carb dressing I can find (something like the good for you French one from Asda) and have a very little. There are apparently frylight salad dressings in Sainsburys that people have too but I haven't tried those.

Thanks so much bordergirl! Have left it a little late to go to the shops now so sadly no dressing today... But will check those out as I might start eating salads every weekend. I am so looking forward to the chicken :)

im having chicken salad tonight too, as i aim to get my meal to come in at 200cals like on CD, im having a small amount of light mayonnaise with smoked chilli powder, paprika and a squeeze of lemon juice to make a chipotle dressing - its only about 12 cals and 2 carbs - whole meal comes in at 5 carbs, less than half the carbs of a pack.

i didnt know we werent meant to have any dressings on s&s though..so dont listen to me...

We're not but I just make sure I count them and choose products with negligible carbs. Really makes a difference to a salad for me although having said that I'm not eating salad at the mo - too cold :)

im in london and its roasting outside today, i was going to have chicken breast with bbq rub, and turnip and cauliflower mash but the sun has put me right in the mood for salad,

It's quite nice here too actually today but since I don't have any salad in (apart from cucumber) it'll be veggie tonight :)

sorry , thought id slip another chicken question in here
i know we can have 100g cooked
what is that roughly before you cook it

I think it all depends how much water the chicken has in it. I'd say 120g raw but I am guessing TBH. It's what I use but I can't say I've actually weighed it afterwards.

Ooh I'm liking the sound of BBQ rub :)

Kinickers - be careful of lemon juice as it contains citric acid which takes some people out of ketosis. LL even say at you mustn't have a slice of lemon in your water.

yeah, luckily im an old atkins fan, and found that citric acid has absolutely no effect on me at all, thank god as im a Scot with a terrible diet irnbru addiction! ive got myself down to 2 cans of diet drink a day now though. i guess some people are just senstive to it

I've never tried - not worth the possibility of going out of ketosis for me - but fantastic that you know you're ok with it! Opens up a lot of other possibilities.
