Day 1 - ElleC's Brand New Life!

Well done Elle. Great result x

Hi Elle. That's a brilliant loss!

Thanks guys! It's definitely keeping me motivated. Plus my new packs arrived today so looking forward to having some variety. I think the Exante site is quite sneaky. After clicking and reading through all the bumper packs I still wasn't too sure what to do and thought I'd have a look at the pick your own bundle as it was 35% off but when I clicked in to it, they gave you a code to get 50% off but it's not advertised anywhere else. I'm really pleased though as I've been able to buy a few bars, soups and meals to see what they're like.

I've also started drinking black tea which I thought I'd hate but it's actually quite nice. So, all change but change is GOOD!

Hi Elle. Hope you enjoy your new packs. That's interesting about the pick your own packs. I might have a look and see if they are still doing it.

Hi! Did you find the code? I think it's PICKYOUROWN and you put it in at checkout but you have to buy 84 packs.... X

Morning all - so incredibly please. I've managed to lose a whopping 11.5lbs on my first week. I literally could cry. I know the weight loss won't continue on like this but I'm so chuffed. Yes, I've been a bit grumpy and yes, I've been longingly eyeing up everyone's food in the office but it's definitely all worth it. Going into week 2 with a really positive attitude and big smile on my face! :)

My new packs arrived on Saturday and so far I've tried:

Chocolate & Orange bar - weirdly salty but it's not bad. Great to have something to crunch and chew on
Mint Chocolate shake - pretty good but smells mintier than it actually is. I found this one to be more runny than the others
Double Chocolate bar - almost sludgy brownie texture and really nice - big surprise as I thought it was going to be disgusting

I'm looking forward to trying out a soup tonight!

Wow Elle that's a brilliant loss. Well done. Makes it all worth while doesn't it. Here's to a good second week x

Brilliant loss Elle. Well done!

Had a veggie soup last night... Not my favourite I have to say! It was very lumpy so my plan of straining it didn't really work very well, it seemed to be very claggy and tasted very synthetically creamy. I added some white pepper and tabasco but I wasn't really a massive fan of it. Still, it went down so it wasn't terrible.

Also had to bake a cake for a colleague in work today and was so tempted to stick my face in the bowl of melted chocolate and butter but I resisted and took in a few, great big lungfuls of it instead. Now I have to explain to everyone why I'm not eating it - they're gonna think I poisoned it! Haha! :)

Have the apple and cinnamon porridge to try today for lunch. Have also got a toffee nut bar to try. Had a weight today and am another 1lb down so nearly at a stone. I've realised I've a few things coming up in the calendar food wise so am starting to plan again. We're meant to be going to some friends tomorrow night - she's a doctor so I didn't really want to tell her I was on Exante as I'm sure she'd ask loads of questions so I just told her I was off carbs so I'd stick to meat and veg for dinner. I'm gonna go buy some fresh biltong tomorrow and take that as well so I can contribute to nibbles as crisps are my absolute downfall.

Revelation... I have just had the porridge and it is SO good! Sloppier than normal porridge but really, it's very tasty and feels like I've eaten a proper meal. :D

So.... I'm off out to friends tonight with my husband and they are insisting on cooking dinner as they've been over to us for food so many times before. So I'm fully prepared to have just the meat and veg and steer clear of all carbs and alcohol. I've also gone out and bought the most amazing biltong to bring over as a 'gift' so we can nibble on that rather than on crisps. Feeling strong and happy that I'll be back on it again tomorrow with no problems. :D

Hope tonight goes well for you Elle

Well, I went to our friends on Friday and they were cooking fajitas so I managed to just eat chicken and vegetables. I also bought a load of gorgeous, fresh biltong round so I avoided the crisps / sweets out to nibble and had some biltong instead. Stuck to water and then on Saturday I just drunk constantly and had my packs as normal. Checked this morning and I'm still very much in ketosis so happy to say that food hurdle 1 has been passed!

Next weekend is Chinese New Year and might be a bit more of a challenge but I'm feeling pretty positive, especially after this weekend.

I've just had a carbonara pack for the first time and I actually quite liked it. Was more like a cheese soup than anything else though. I made it with the correct amount of water - is it normally so watery?

Hi Elle. It is best if you let it soak for about 5 minutes before cooking. I then cook it for 2 minutes and then stir. After this, I then keep giving it anothe minute in the microwave and stir until it is thick and the pasta has swelled and gone soft. I also add garlic granules. Well done for this weekend. what is biltong?

Hiya - I let it soak for about 7 minutes, but I might try the additional minute and see if this reduces the liquid! Was not bad though...

Thank you, I wasn't super convinced I'd be able to do it so pleased that I've come out the other side! Biltong is where they cure strips of lean beef and then rub it in spices and hang it to dry. My butcher then shaves it til it's paper thin. It's a snack but it's pure protein with no carbs so great alternative to crisps / biscuits. It's delicious, especially when freshly made.

Sounds tasty!
